My last page of apps completely disappeared. It is my Games page. They are still showing in the App Library but the whole page is MIA. Strange.

Voice/sound quality on Phone calls are still bad on this latest build on my iPhone 13 Pro Max. I suspect it’s the missing noise cancelation on all the 13 devices in iOS that’s the culprit. Even apple them selves did not have an explanation in to why that toggle is missing. Maybe someone will have an answer some day, feels like a downgrade from my 12 pro max. 🙃

Sounds like you might have unchecked the page in the “page display selector” (or wherever Apple calls it). To find and re-check it, get into jiggly mode by long pressing in an unoccupied part of the Home Screen (like you were adding a widget). Then tap on the the little dots at the bottom of the screen

When you tap that, all of your home screens will appear in a grid. The ones that should display will have their checkboxes checked.

Oh crap. Thanks so much. That was it.

My heart is bleeding. I updated my iPhone X from 14.8 to 15.2 and now to 15.3. I would gladly pay even $ 100 to get the power back on 14.8 :( My iPhone X started to stutter terribly, the animations are the bottom. I advise against switching to iOS 15. Let's be honest. This system does nothing for the X model compared to iOS 14.

Well, just for the Safari improvements (extensions, tab groups…) and the App Privacy Report, it could be worth it for many people. I can understand people wanting to update to iOS 15, security fixes aside. But maybe not at the expense of the performance.

I have to update my iPhone 8, I’ll share my experience with iOS 15.2, which has the same A11 inside.

I’m eagerly but very suspiciously following this thread. I’m on iPhone Xs - iOS 14.8.1 and I’m withholding the iOS 15.0 version upgrade so far. There’s nothing I’m missing ATM and second this iPhone iOS 14.8.1 is rock solid.

Can’t afford a new one just for fun, but I depend heavily on it. So far so good!

To all fellow ‘older’ iPhone users, good luck deciding what to do and/or with your upgrades.

Cheers!

Made me chuckle 🤣

This beta noticeably improved the modem performance on dual SIM. Switching between carriers or even just looking at any part of Settings > Cellular caused the modem to disconnect from all networks and reconnect, and I first noticed this behavior back on the 12 PM (maybe even the 11 PM). Now it switches pretty seamlessly.

Also I wonder if Apple is doing some calibrating. The screen looks greener to me on this beta. Or maybe I'm staring at the MBP 14" screen too much and the disparity is clearer ?

Interesting you say this. The modem firmware on this build is back to an older version prior to the 15.2 release for the 13 series devices. Probably means beta 2 will jack it up again :)

iOS 15.2 Release
  • iPhone 13/Mini/Pro/Max: 1.32.09
  • iPhone 12/Mini/Pro/Max: 2.23.02
iOS 15.3 B1
  • iPhone 13/Mini/Pro/Max: 1.31.01
  • iPhone 12/Mini/Pro/Max: 2.22.02

I think that in all devices the modem version was degraded in this first beta of ios 15.3. at least on my iphone 11 pro it also downgraded to an older version than on ios 15.2.
I suppose it will be because for whatever reason they had to update this section and they did not have time to incorporate it in the first beta. in my case I notice worse reception of coverage and more instability of the same than in ios 15.2, nothing alarming, but notorious.

I really hope they fix the issue with the cropping aspect ratio in Photos not working.

Here are some new issues discovered over the Xmas weekend:

Airdrop from 13PM to IPP11 2020 and iPad Mini 5 fails on larger files or if trying to drop larger groups of photos. Consistently failed for >100 photos.

Lightroom frequently failed unless app manager was cleaned out. Trying to do some quick touchups on Xmas photos.

Airpods Pro would display spatial characteristics even if these are turned off (set to stereo) 13PM and IPP11.

Saving photos to an external mSD card via dongle (via Files) is very slow. Much slower than 15.1.1 (13PM)

The XR has the same version for both 15.2 and 15.3 b1. I have seen no differences in coverage between the two myself. Not sure on the other models. The 1st post in each thread shows the modem version for each device but sometimes these are not updated in each thread though. Yeah typically a 1st beta will contain older modem versions since these betas are existing at Apple a while before they are published. Not uncommon at all.

the truth is the first time since I have returned to the beta with beta 6 of ios 15 that I have seen degradation in the modem. but I do notice but coverage, because where before it had stable coverage, now it happens changing between 3 and 4 stripes. And the modem that appears on the first page for the 11 pro model at least has not been updated for a long time. the current one is 3.01.02 in 15.2 if I remember correctly, and there it is still in 2.04.07.

Yeah these threads are copied over from previous one and seems the modem and carrier sections rarely get updated. Probably would be good to zero them out @Banglazed leaving only the device model. Maybe then folks would update it or at least would not be old information. :)

Usually, I would fill those out but I got lazy so maybe I will start doing it again. You can also find the modem firmware history here too for reference.

I traded in my iPhone 8 for the 13 mini. iPhone 8 was running iOS 15 very, very smoothly, zero hiccups. Sure, it also depends on age of apps you use. Fortunately, I do not need to use apps that have not been updated in months or years.

@Banglazed @sbailey4

First thing I do is update for the 12s firmware and carrier, because I only have a 12. Normally follows by a firmware change message if it’s changed ??

Shouldn’t be all left to Banglazed though, its group housekeeping for the forum, done by us all.

Just like @MozMan68 does a sterling job updating our release dates. ??

There's a reason it is a Wiki, everyone with over a 100 posts can contribute! Some of us do, most of us do not bother. I try and update what is not there but relevant as and when it happens.

Rumour mill we aren’t seeing the mini for iP14. I wonder how long there will be support for it on iOS.

That will be a rare piece of kit one day.

EDIT: and if this glass backed design goes through, I don’t think there will be time to moan about software, iOS 16, as to me, there’s a major hardware issue on the horizon with shattered glass phones sky rocketing. “Yes by a case” but what about the people who don’t want to cover up their $1000 phones with gaudy silicone or plastic ?

I personally think that Apple might put this mini design into SE. I have no source, nothing else to support this, and hence this is just a thought, not a 'claim' and certainly not a rumour that I am hoping to spread. It is only a personal thought. (all this as a disclaimer for the angry, entitled disagree-er gentry)

For me, the mini design has been rather perfect, ergonomically. A huge part of that has to do with the edginess/ boxiness. I say this because I tried out the 'regular' 13 and while it is larger than the iPhone 8, I found that it was 'manageable' and I was going to pay for that, but it was not available right then. Hence, picked the 13 mini. I almost had my heart set on the 13 because it was manageable as against the 8's slipperiness that necessitated a case. I did not even book it because I also saw that Safari does not make good use of the extra screen space at all.

I hope they do not kill the mini size (both from flagship and SE). I am even ready for them to make it on order and charge higher for it, that's because if I cannot use a 2000-inch phone even though a sizeable part of the world loves it, it means I cannot use an iPhone! So, if I can pay higher for a 1500-inch iPhone that might suit me ergonomically, I would get that one. The people who want a smaller device should be given a smaller device, else Apple loses that market.

I look forward to their hardware design changes after Ive. The new MacBook Pro 16 that I use has been great, and I do think that they may go for a substantial redesign of the iPhone in September 2022 (although who knows!) but in 2 years' time when they would likely also kick the notch out and vilify it just as they had brought it in after glorifying it, even though they have always tried to hide it in marketing materials. Considering Apple is focusing more on hardware gimmicks and attraction rather than software improvements, I am quite sure they would rather remove the notch or change up the materials just to create a flutter of desire in people, as against any substantial, meaningful improvements because the space seems somewhat saturated.

Some of the large-handed ones might disagree with me, because of their sense of entitlement. Some might laugh, again, because they cannot understand it. However, I would actually love 3 sizes always, the mini, what people call regular, and what Apple calls the max. That actually creates a middle ground for everyone out there and they can buy the size they feel comfortable with best.
