Anyone got the beta on their HomePods?

I’ve got 2 originals and 1 mini none of them ever (well maybe once or twice since the update) that always go uh-oh I can’t do that (etc) when you ask them to interact with anything HomeKit related (heating, hue bulbs, LG TV) I know the setup still works and hasn’t changed as if I use Siri on my 13PM 15.3.2 beta it works fine

Good news, I’m no longer having background usage from Mail ever since deleting the app and reinstalling. Thanks for the suggestion, @Pearsey!! That was the only issue I had lately and I’m glad it’s gone! (Just hope it stays that way.)

I can’t tell you how many times this has fixed apps for me…and I’m still stubborn about doing it for fear of losing data or something else getting screwed up.

I finally broke down and did it for my Curb app that I was too lazy to fix…even after very frustrating rides in NYC cabs when I couldn’t use it to pay.

Yep. HomeKit on HomePod is completely borked with this release…even worse than normal and that’s saying something. It’s been reported.

Doing that, fixed an issue where by it was lagging when updating for me back in 15.1 betas. Haven’t had any issues with Mail since.

Glad that’s helped ?

HomePods are a joke and Apple should be ashamed. They should have let them die along with AirPower. I have four of them at home and after over a month of frustration, we’ve gone back to Alexa. SO much better and the only thing I miss is being able to love tracks with Siri.

Has there been a difference between OG and mini? I have minis and haven’t had any issues since it wouldn’t say the news when asking for my update. But that was fixed a couple of months ago.

They’re all garbage. My wife has never been able to intentionally connect to any of them. It would randomly start playing something on Apple Music with nobody else able to control it and the media controls would pop up on her phone but nowhere else.

She was added to Home, had her voice trained with Siri and is fully aware of all of the commands. We stood in the bathroom trying to figure out a way to get her phone to connect so she couple play her music in the shower.

HomeKit needs to be exploded and they should hire somebody with a clue to start it from scratch.

Dumb.

I’m probably just lucky that I’m the only one that uses them as stereo speakers in my office. Mainly use it with Apple Music without issues.

I think hardware wise they are really good, but with the rest of it I couldn’t agree more with you.

Apple clearly don’t have the skills nor the inclination to make HomeKit any better than the complete and utter cluster **** that it has now become on the HomePods.

I must of got lucky then at Christmas.

Home pod mini (not on betas) has worked beautifully across iPhones on betas and official builds, mine and my wifes.

It’s slotted into our lifestyle seamlessly. It’s situated in the corner of a room in the centre of the house and fills the place with music. Couldn’t be happier.

Great depth of base I might add.

Default media player: Spotify

My Mini's alarm went off yesterday morning when it wasn't set. (And I'm really surprised there is only one alarm choice.)

If all you are using it for is to play music, then you will probably get away with an okay experience. However start to use it for more things with HomeKit and that’s when it goes tits up.com IME.

13 ProMax

Ran into this today. Took a hard reboot to get it to go away.
Keep in mind I do not backup Messages. Not sure where these came from but …. Undeleted? And incognito.

13 ProMax - Noise Cancellation

Our little group of townhomes are getting are roofs redone (courtesy of HOA / it is a bit noisy at times) and after a couple of calls (including one on Teams) where I was asked about background noise. So I switched to my OP 9 Pro and the background noise for the folks on our chats went away.

I tested it using my son as a TA (test animal) on his Note. He could hear the difference. Said it wasn't bad however the 13PM had some background noise while the OP 9 Pro had pretty much nothing.

Makes me wonder just what Apple is doing.

Simple. Apple is taking all 13 owners for fools. They are selling us less is more.

the beta 2 in general lines is very stable and in autonomy it behaves in an excellent way. the only problem is the high consumption of system data, which as soon as two weeks is fine, as suddenly it gets out of control, as it is happening to me now. but I think that no beta will solve it, because it has been like this since the launch of ios 15 haha

I did a bit of research on this from multiple trusted sources, dont ask for links because I didnt save my paths, but Macworld, MacRumors, couple of ex Genius Bar guys, and what I concluded was system data is a mixed bag of apps savings things there, "downloaded" files in files amongst other things the iPhone doesnt know how to categorise.

Some apps that we're taking up a lot of storage I deleted and reinstalled, which brought down the iPhone storage and system data. plugging in your phone into a Mac and doing a sync brought it down further as some data files are offloaded on your machine that are old and deleted from your phone. Clearing Website data in safari was a big one for me id completely forgotten about last month.

I'ts not going to just one day be at zero with a new beta, as I've said before, your phones do need some TLC to get good results. There is a beta camp of people, not saying its you, that just think your phone should run ok from beta to beta and each new beta sorts of the last one with no maintenance needed, because then an app update will be around the corner sorting that out, kind of attitude. Wrong. We need to delete and reinstall apps from time to time. Also we need to reinstall the iOS again from time to time, thats just the behaviour of devices on beta software - Hard restarts and network resets are a must also!

All said and done, I went from 12gigs down to 5.5gigs just having a tinker.
