You need to restore your iPhone then. No way it’s still indexing till now, looks like a corrupted install.

Sounds like it’s running hotter than the dirty bird (KFC) that went down my loo this morning. ?
Dang. I wish I wouldn’t have updated from 14.8.1. I got burned again! Back to the nuke and restore cycle I go again! Just sucks.

Usher burn? ?

She’ll be purring like new again, once you hit that restore button. ???

Still hotter than heck (3 days later after update) when I plug my phone in and lock it. Cpu usage goes straight to 100%… guess I’ll give a few more days before I go nuclear and restore.

Sure doesn’t seem right waking up to a hot phone everyday after an update. Plus it makes charging very slow when the cpu is pegged at 100% doing who knows what and the heat can’t be good for the battery either. Oh well.
Try resetting the settings first.

I think I found the culprit. In my photos in the for you section it has a bunch of multiple memories and many are duplicates and it’s like a mile long of scrolling.

I’m thinking every time I’ve been plugging it in and locking it’s going though my photos over and over and over making those for you memories.

Maybe a wipe and restore from backup will fix it or maybe I’ll need to start fresh.

Well it seems that me doing the Recovery Mode Restore was not without a couple of issues. Although, it did resolve the iOS Safari text marking issue, two issues were introduced by the Restore. The first one was an old issue rearing its head again. Whenever I would connect my phone to wired CarPlay, a random Music song would be loaded into the Now Paying in Control Center. In order to resolve the Music issue, I needed to delete and reinstall the Music app. That resolved that issue but it introduced another issue. The System Data was not sitting at 27 GB after I reinstalled the Music app. In order to resolve the System Data size issue I need to do another Recovery Mode Restore followed by a restore from backup. See where this is going. I will see if the loading a random song in Now Playing in Control Center will happen again when I connect my phone to CarPlay.

Damn, another restore, hopefully you get it right the second time. ?

I’d throw my phone out the window if I had to restore it twice in one week.

The subsequent restores are not too bad and don’t take a lot time as I am restoring from backup.

I guess if nothing else I can report to Apple as I think it is easy to reproduce.

Hopefully we get a small update soon that squashes some of these little annoying bugs.

Could be worse though, thank you lucky stars that you don’t have a S22U exynos model, even with the GOS patch, it’s still running like a 🐷

A lot of people in the comments are saying the same thing.

It seems that people are reporting lagging issues with the SD 8 Gen 1 version. And so much for the hype surrounding using the AMD GPU. Samsung should just give up on using the Exynos chip. At least the SD fairs better in terms of power efficiency.

Slower than a tortoise if I skip forward 10 seconds when watching something at 2160p, have to let it buffer for a while before skipping forward. ?

Started happening after they offered me use device theme, maybe that has something to do with it. ?

Other people are also having the same problem, it’s a app issue, typical google garbage.

No issues on my Mac or via safari on iPhone or iPad.

Netflix & Disney plus running fine in 4K Dolby vision.

Shouldn’t be surprised really, they can’t even get their hardware & software right for their pixel phones. ?

If it ain’t a  A series chip, it ain’t worth using.

Apple has gotten really good at vertical integration and hardware and software optimization and efficiency. For over a decade Apple worked really hard on its hardware processors and it is bearing fruit. So much so that everyone now wants to try and capture what Apple has done, with not so much success. What is really amazing is how well Apple Silicon scales up. The processor for the Mac Pro is going to be absolute beast, I suspect. And Apple will probably be able to keep the CPU/GPU under 200 watts. Again allowing Apple to be able to use a small chassis for the Mac Pro, with a very quiet operation.

Killing it year after year when it comes to their silicon.

I remember when the rest of industry was laughing at them for switching to 64 bit silicon, then they were scrambling to do the same after they saw how good it was. ?

Someone brought an interesting observation about Apple Silicon:
Business reasons. Simplification. They want customers focused away from chip specs and on to the form factor they prefer.

Customers will learn there's no performance penalty buying a laptop vs a desktop vs an all-in-one or even a tablet. A M1 Pro is an M1 Pro is an M1 Pro, whereever.

No more thinking about tiers (i3/i5/i7), no speed ratings (Ghz, base vs turbo, fans). The only performance differences are the number of CPU and GPU cores and those to the extent possible scale linearly.

Do you need an M1, a Pro, a Max or an Ultra? That's it. If you don't need the extra cores, feel confident you get the same excellent day-to-day performance as if you spent thousands more.

Prefer the apple route when it comes to naming chipsets, makes life easier for the consumer.

Wonder what they'll call the chip that's going into the Mac Pro. ?

Every time I finish a Fitness+ workout, the huge playback screen stays on the lock screen, and there is no way to remove it until I close the multitasking app ?‍♂️

That could be the issue. There’s a lot of AI related to photos like identifying objects, faces and building memories etc. Take your iPhone out of the case while charging if you could to keep it from getting too hot till it settles down.
