I'm somewhat disappointed with focus mode. I love the idea, and I want to move seamlessly between modes. I have a very set work schedule, so I want it to be in focus mode "Work" from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM, then it should move to "Private" and ones my sleep schedule kicks in it goes into "Sleep".

"Fitness" and "Sleep" is working already and did so before iOS 15. Fitness is activating automatically when I start a workout on my Apple Watch and disables itself once I'm done. "Do Not Distrub" activated itself automatically using Bedtime on iOS 14 so only difference with iOS 15 is that I have more control over what is allowed and what is not allowed as "Do Not Distrub" has been replaced with the "Sleep" focus on iOS 15.

This is all great and all. It's not difficult to have a schedule for "Work" and "Private" either. My big problem is the customisation. By default when you configure a new focus it will allow notifications from "none" people, and calls from favourites. Calls are easy enough to fix, I simply replace it with Allow calls from Everyone. Notifications on the other hand is more difficult as there are no option for allowing notifications from everyone. All you can do is to add from your list of contacts. But here is the thing, this is what I want to achieve by having a "Work" and "Private" schedule going:

Work - Mutes all my non-essensial private apps. Allow calls from everyone, allows notifications from every person.
Private - Mutes all my work apps. Allow calls from everyone, allows notifications from every person.

I might be stupid but it looks like this is impossible to achieve at this point? Not being able to customise this on "Fitness" and "Sleep" doesn't matter. I don't want any notifications during fitness or sleep unless it comes from my favourites. So I don't need to be able to allow notifications from every person on these two focus modes.

But I sure do so for "Work" and "Private". What happens if I get a work related SMS coming from a unknown number? I suppose it would not provide me with a notification as there is no way for me to add anything similar to "everyone" a Allowed People under the settings for r"Allowed People for Notifications"?

Or would simply adding iMessage to the list of allowed apps override this and make sure that I would still receive SMS notifications from unknown numbers?

Other than the music database corruption issue, the RC has been solid on my iPhone 11. I kept the 15 betas off my phone until the RC.

All those things (well, apart from Wallet I think) sync across between my two phones and my laptop. My iCloud Calendar is always in sync between devices; if I add a new share to my watchlist on my Mac it'll show on my phone. iMessage definitely syncs across.

I don't know what you mean about Notes. By selecting the iCloud ones (which is what that setting does) you're saying they do share?

Messages definitely don’t share.
iCloud Calendear - I have Work, Home, and Calendar all checked but they do not share across my devices.
When I open Notes I can select on device or iCloud. Like selecting a folder on device or in Dropbox (Files).

So these switches control iCloud functions (working for me or not) and a mixture of backup, share, and other functions.
I thought they were all backup.

That’s like saying “Well a big part of my phone isn’t working correctly anymore but the OS has been rock solid.” The database corruption issue is enough of an issue to keep people from downloading iOS15.

Anyone having any issues with notifications not showing? Specifically Gmail, Ring, Okta, or any others? The notifications are all turned on, not showing up though.

I went from 14.8 directly to the release candidate so there are going to be millions of other users who encounter these same bugs.

And safari at the bottom And focus are hardly features worth getting me excited for. Glad you like them but for me I hate the address bar at the bottom and turn it off and focus is just a glorified do not disturb, which we have had for some time now.
Focus is more than a glorified DND. 😆 Especially with Home Screen customisation

It’s possible half your issues are beta related, as RC is still within the beta window. If there’s a new build today, might not see most what you see. I’d expect the music database issue, which isn’t affecting everyone, to be sorted in the new build. Not everyone uses Apple Music, and it’s not affecting every Apple Music user.

I’m really surprised at how many features initially slated for the release of iOS 15 and now held back.

I wonder if Apple is starting to thinking a little differently regarding how features and iOS numeric versions are synchronized. Perhaps gone are the days when major features are all rolled out at the beginning of the dot iOS version and rather some new features are rolled out somewhere after initial release. Isn’t that how Windows and Android has often operated?

Sometimes my LINE app will not give me notifications. It's been inconsistent since the last couple of betas.

SharePlay and Universal Control are quite complex. I think UC was always gonna be delayed to 15.1 though, as that would be out around same time as MacOS Monterey.

Can someone try this to see if it’s happening to you too? Open Weather app. Click on the map. In my area today it’s raining not sure if that has something to do with it. Change the map to precipitation then to temperature. At temperature, it’s just a black screen. Plus I don’t know how to turn off Dark Mode for this map. Ugh

I can confirm the same issue on by end but it looks like it only is an issue, if you change the layer to rain or aqi. Once I force closed the app and then relaunched it, it was by default on temp and was fine. It does seem intermittent, could not get it to reproduce a second time, hmm.

For reference, this is on a 12 Pro.

Opened it again and it’s not dark mode map and the temperature isn’t just a black screen. I did report it though.

I tried that and a couple of other this then that scenarios.
All is working fine on my 12 ProMax.

You are not stupid, this is indeed quiet hard to understand and myself has to do several tests to make sure I have the behavior that I want.

What you want to achieve is possible. When you allow an app (message app for example), this is the same as "allow every message from this app".

If you don't allow it but you allow people X and Y to contact you, the notifications from this persons will break through the restricted message notification settings and you will receive them anyway.

So, to achieve your goal, you just have to allow message to the authorized app and you will have message from anyone.

Until they allow to have an inverted settings (I think this is something a lot of people ask, so crossed finger it will come on a future update..)

If you're having issues with iOS 15 RC, what's the recommendation? Is it possible I will get pushed the public iOS 15 at 1:00 PM EDT? Should I delete the beta profile now?

If you don't want to get jumped to the next beta; ex 15.1 or 15.0.1, then yes, you are going to want to remove the beta profile, then restart the phone. Running the RC, your phone will get the public bits without the beta profile

I think its the folks that went from 14.8 to this RC that had this issue..
Yeah I went from 14.8 to the RC, what should I do now, the public are getting the same build so they are going from 14.8 to the rc so they will get the same issues?
