I'm somewhat disappointed with focus mode. I love the idea, and I want to move seamlessly between modes. I have a very set work schedule, so I want it to be in focus mode "Work" from 08:00 AM to 04:00 PM, then it should move to "Private" and ones my sleep schedule kicks in it goes into "Sleep".
"Fitness" and "Sleep" is working already and did so before iOS 15. Fitness is activating automatically when I start a workout on my Apple Watch and disables itself once I'm done. "Do Not Distrub" activated itself automatically using Bedtime on iOS 14 so only difference with iOS 15 is that I have more control over what is allowed and what is not allowed as "Do Not Distrub" has been replaced with the "Sleep" focus on iOS 15.
This is all great and all. It's not difficult to have a schedule for "Work" and "Private" either. My big problem is the customisation. By default when you configure a new focus it will allow notifications from "none" people, and calls from favourites. Calls are easy enough to fix, I simply replace it with Allow calls from Everyone. Notifications on the other hand is more difficult as there are no option for allowing notifications from everyone. All you can do is to add from your list of contacts. But here is the thing, this is what I want to achieve by having a "Work" and "Private" schedule going:
Work - Mutes all my non-essensial private apps. Allow calls from everyone, allows notifications from every person.
Private - Mutes all my work apps. Allow calls from everyone, allows notifications from every person.
I might be stupid but it looks like this is impossible to achieve at this point? Not being able to customise this on "Fitness" and "Sleep" doesn't matter. I don't want any notifications during fitness or sleep unless it comes from my favourites. So I don't need to be able to allow notifications from every person on these two focus modes.
But I sure do so for "Work" and "Private". What happens if I get a work related SMS coming from a unknown number? I suppose it would not provide me with a notification as there is no way for me to add anything similar to "everyone" a Allowed People under the settings for r"Allowed People for Notifications"?
Or would simply adding iMessage to the list of allowed apps override this and make sure that I would still receive SMS notifications from unknown numbers?
