All I want is home bar gone for good Let us change the camera and torch buttons on Lock Screen interactive widgets they’re pretty much blown up apps at the moment.

A apple designed theme store.

It baffles the mind how resistant Apple is to customization.

The home bar doesn’t bother me much. It could do with being smaller but I don’t mind it’s presence.

Interactive widgets and the ability to have spaces between icons would be nice.

The OS doesn't need groundbreaking changes in every new version. But yes, if they are not adding as many new features anymore, they should focus more on bugs etc. But overall, I am happy with what I have.

Yeah I’m not saying every release needs to be loaded with features (that’s asking for more bugs and bloat) but if they’re not adding that stuff, it’s hard to excuse the bugs. I really hate the “oh we introduced too many bugs last year so this year is all about bug fixes” release cycles especially when the year they introduced all those bugs wasn’t really groundbreaking to begin with.

I still have Focus not shutting off sometimes at the scheduled time, which is a pretty serious and noticeable bug, so I'm surprised if they didn't release another beta between now and then.

Remember, betas can be a newer branch than what becomes the RC. The idea is to find and report bugs; if a recent beta introduced a bug, that bug might not be in the RC because that code is from a previous branch.

Right now we could be beta testing code changes that won't be in the RC, even in a beta 9 if it comes out.

I think for the zillionth time:

Apple’s beta schedule is not dependent on what bugs are remaining in the system in the late stages. They have a schedule and they keep to the schedule unless there is something calamitous found later in the game.

They are not going to alter this because a new feature is not working 100% properly in a late beta.

A slightly wonky “Focus mode” is not calamitous.

If there is a beta 9 ( which I find highly unlikely) it will be because it was scheduled from the get-go.

Still hoping for the GM/RC leaking before the event.

That (a leaked version) has NEVER happened. And it’s NOT going to happen. The alpha leak of iOS 14 (I think) doesn’t count, as it was just code, not an installable release.

And by the way, If you are on beta 9, congrats!: you already have the RC plus some logging and miscellaneous other code.

I am pretty sure one year the GM iPsw released via the developer portal (not OTA) the Friday before the event.

I demand they alter it straight away, my DND hasn’t turned Itself off a few times, when scheduled to do so. 😂

Slightly wonky is good with me. Get veg at a third off the price at my local supermarket because it’s “wonky”. Nowt wrong with it 😎.

Wonky RC after the event is my gut feeling from listening to you all.

but I really want ios15.1 B1 to drop sooooon!!!! RC won’t be exciting, just going through the motions. 15.1 B1 on the other hand, will be exciting to see what’s inside 😍

Well, iOS15 b1 dropped waaaay back on june 7th... 🤪

I guess you mean iOS 15.1 beta1, don't you? ;)

At this point late in the game, I'd assume any fixes for 15 would be in 15.1b1 and then also included in 15.0.1 when that eventually comes out. New Features can be added for testing in 15.1 and then bug fixes included in current. So, we'll either have the chance to stay on a beta with potential fixes or wait it out until 15.0.1 in a week or (probably) two.

Well we have two camps, one is there will be a release today either B9 or RC1 and the other saying no more releases until the event. A few folks do expect a 15.1 beta today who I put in the a release today camp.

One of the two camps will be red faced and one will be “told ya” in the next few hours.

Should be very interesting to see who steps up and and admits they were so sure but turned out to be so wrong and who goes silent

Lol red faced because of a software release? Come on. Chill.

Assuming most of us want bug fixes, for which we are looking forward to a beta 9. Then it might serve us more if a 15.1 beta 1 is released rather than a beta 9.
a beta 9 is not likely to address our needs as much as 15.1 beta 1.

The next beta is gonna be 15.1 Beta 1. RC is being installed on the new phones now, so a beta 9 is illogical. 15.0 RC next week, with public release the following week, just before the phones come to us. This has always been the way (bar last years covid impacted release and the year before with the China restrictions).

Whether 15.1 beta 1 is this week or next, I dunno. Might be before the event.

think there’s a high chance of 15.0.1, but I think that will just get straight released the week after 15.0 drops.

Nothing is truly off the table (as Apple has demonstrated time and again). But in this case, it is likely as you lay it out. Having a 15.1b1 is a distinct possibility, I think. If they are complete on 15.0, might as well start building the database of issues in the next one.
