once the RC is installed do you need to update on the 20th as well or will the device recognise the RC as the same as the Public release?

Wooo, the 15 RC went straight on via Finder, no beta profile or anything. Looks like Apple made the background update available already, nice!

If you remove the beta profile, and the build that Apple seeds on the 20th is newer than your current build, then iOS will prompt you to update to it. Seeing as it's likely 15.0.1 will drop on the 20th, and therefore be a newer build, then you'll likely get an update on the 20th.

AudioOS RC is out too, downloading to my HomePod Minis now.

nice to see Apple sticking to its usual routine of RC after the event and public release the week the new devices ship after last years anomalous release strategy due to COVID.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Tuesday either, but I’m guessing Tuesday the following week so as not to mess with the beta testers getting the new phones pre-installed with 15. I can’t remember how it was done in the past though
We’ve had x.1 betas before the new phones, as I remember people complaining about what to do as there was no x.1 beta for the new devices until the next beta. 🤣

I’m thinking maybe Tuesday/Wednesday.

I’d be pleasantly surprised if it came today tho. I’m wanting to see what’s in it! SharePlay and universal Control! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

My guess was the following week after the new iPhone drops 28th for 15.1 beta 1.. my thought is maybe they want it possibly tested on new phones also 🤷🏼‍♂️
Beta can come out before, we’ve had it before, the new phones got a beta release either the Monday after they came out or waited until the next beta in the cycle (think we’ve had both variations over the years).

I was discussing iOS 12 with Ansath yesterday. The GM (now called RC) was released straight after the event. iOS 12.0 was formally released the following Monday and iOS 12.1 beta 1 followed on Tuesday. Phones followed on Friday. I expect the same this year. If you have ordered a new phone then delete the beta profile NOW.

I’ll be shocked if 15.1 beta is released before the iPhone 13 comes out, considering 15.1 will be all about ProRes most likely.

I tend to agree with this. Also saves them a lot of problems with people on the beta who get new phones and can’t restore from their 15.1 backups. I’m sure Support endorses this 100%

I don’t understand the logic of users getting new points. Can you please elaborate.

I am not going to hold my breath or wait with baited breath (I took a breath mint) for much of any improvement. It appears to me that Apple does as Apple wants. Even the mention that great and wonderful life changing improvments, additions and innovations will be coming later this year, might have sparked my belief that they would be hinting. Looking at the phone itself, camera, a few apps that work faster, maybe even I can call someone or take a call on some device. the size, color, shape of the phone is what changes. We need to see "WOW" here and so far, for me at least, I will hang on to my iPhone 12 Pro, my watch 7 with the two sensors (oxygen, heart oh and ekg.) three, I am retired from teaching math, three sensors. Yeah, rumors are just that rumors. I hope I live long enough to see that the phone delivers through the earpiece a horrifying screech if you are not vaccinated and a taser jolt in your watch for the same reason. now that wouldl be cool
