Not this week, but 15.4.2 is very viable if 15.5 doesn't come till June. That would mean almost two months without an update if 15.4.2 doesn't get released. From a pure security standpoint, I don't see that big of gap happening.

2 months is not unheard of in terms of a gap between public releases. I don't find that concerning at all. I'd say there might be a 15.4.2 if there is some significant bug between now and the end of May (about 6 weeks from now) but otherwise likely not.

If iOS 15.5 has a somewhat long beta cycle, we may see a possible iOS 15.4.2. On the other hand, I doubt 15.5 will come out in June, I bet it will come out before WWDC. I think that during this week the star will be the beta 1 of iOS 16, and the servers will shake haha

I'm hoping so. In the event that iOS 16 beta 1 comes out before the official release of 15.5...I should still be able to move to 16 without issue, I'm assuming? This is actually the first time I've downloaded a beta this close to WWDC, so I'm in new territory here! I usually jump off the beta train at this point, but I wasn't thinking when I downloaded 15.5 ?

I mean if need be, I can go back to whatever the current (at that time) public release is and THEN download 16, but just curious!

You won’t have any issues no matter what software you are running at the time. The key is to make an encrypted backup on whatever version you are running when you move to 16.0. If your are on a beta of 15.5 (unlikely in my opinion), make the encrypted backup but be aware that you can’t restore to that until 15.5 is released publicly.

As I said, I consider it extremely unlikely that 15.5 would not be released prior to the release of 16.0 b1

I figured, but thought it was best I ask because I know my luck ? So thanks!

Yeah, I’m doubting that as well. That’s a somewhat long beta period and at the moment, 15.5 isn’t looking toooo big (compared to 15.4). But we’ll see what comes in beta 2!

I’m still calling 15.4.2 in the next few weeks.
Seems a safe bet.

On a slightly different note, how likely is it that a religious, non-federal holiday such as Easter affects Apple’s software release schedule? Chances of such a thing happening would appear quite small on the surface but even a lot of public school districts, as a perhaps illogical example, seem to be taking extended weekends if they aren’t already on spring break.

Well, since most Apple employees don’t work on Sunday anyway, probably not much.

As for spring break, etc., I’m sure they have that built into their plans.
