Great theory, but what do you have to say about the new shipments sitting in China? the new iPhone 13's? What iOS version are they carrying?
Wouldn’t surprise me if apple has had these betas siting there for a while, they could always open the phones in store and update the software before selling them. 🤔

Have purchased a few new iPhones in the past that needed updating straight out the box. 🤔

At this point. I have a feeling new iPhones will be shipping with beta 8... updated iOS version though.

I'm putting money on it and guess what I'm feeling super lucky to speculate this weekend.;)

1. Beta 8 could be the version that's being flashed into those new iPhones now. In this case, b8 could also be released as rc. Unless some last min serious bugs are found, this also will be the public release.
2. or apple internally have a newer version, which is being flashed into iPhone 13 right now. But at this point, I doubt they will release this as b9. they may just release it as rc
3. The real question is when will they release the RC. Next week when the invites are sent or after the event.

Most likely, then we’ll need to update them one more time once we receive them. 👉📱

EVENT!!! HURRY UP ALREADY 🤦‍♂️👀📱⌚️

I’m going with the same as last year, final release after the event. 😁
Nah, last year was a one off, due to the watch coming out before the phones.

One of my favorite features in 15. It's working fairly well but it doesn't auto fill on all websites so it's a little bit inconvenient sometimes. Still works surprisingly well overall though.
Oh, I thought it was meant to auto fill?

Experts: What are the chances of Apple releasing beta 9, next week?
If the event is meant to be next week, then no chance! If there is a beta 9, then the event won’t be next week.
Final release for the public at the apple event 🕺
As said above, not likely, it will be RC.

You mean so you can dramatically reduce your security for all of your accounts? It’s a GOOD thing to have your passwords and TOTP in different places. People shouldn’t even be storing their passwords in Keychain but people who are storing their 2FA tokens with Apple as well have now made it so that when Apple gets inevitably compromised (it’s never a matter of if a company will be compromised but when), a hacker will have access to all of their accounts’ passwords and 2FA tokens.

If someone breaches my Apple account they won’t find passwords or tokens, those are stored with Bitwarden and Authy, respectively, and they’re both using different email addresses and passwords too. A hacker would have to work much harder to get into my stuff.
Yes that’s what I mean 😅

T
RC next week/after event, which is just beta 8 again. Makes a whole world of sense to me like that, from all the reading on here with timings, and new phones and events going on.

Laters Apple Punks… eww NFT idea 💡😜
Theres no event next week lol.

It is meant to autofill and does mostly. Just like usernames and passwords, there are just some websites that are designed in a way where it won't autofill. Looks like the same applies to the 2FA autofill as well.

I've been able to port all my Authy 2FA's into Apple's 2FA so that's great.

No one is opening devices in the stores. They are flashed with the delivery version of iOS at the factory. There may be a Day 1 update, to 15.0.1 most likely. That’s the kind of thing you’re recalling (and 13.1 two years ago when they rushed the devices out of China early, we think, to avoid threatened tariffs).

I thought Apple said they were being shipped with 14.7 so we had a choice between 14 or 15 ..I will have to look back and find the article but I thought this was going to be the case. ??

You read wrong. Apple just said that you can hold out from upgrading to the newest release with your current devices. We don‘t even know how long that works though or how many updates they continue to provide for old releases.

New devices will always ship with the newest OS.

Thanks for clarifying I knew I saw something like that …👍🏼

I think this coming week there’s a better chance of seeing 15.1b1 than there is of seeing 15b9 or a Release Candidate. And if I remember correctly, the beta profile is for 15 and up, not just for 15.1, meaning we’d need to remove the beta profile to avoid getting it. We’ll probably be on this beta for a few weeks until it’s officially out.

As far as any continued updates to 14 are concerned, we’ve got 14.8 and then 14.9 and all of the point updates in between. They don’t need to back port any features, just any important security updates or maybe some critical fix. They could theoretically support iDevices on 14 for quite some time. It really feels like Apple is starting to understand how things really work in the wild. In our family alone we’ve got two older devices the kids use for games and I can basically just leave them as is and still continue to get security updates. Sometimes people just don’t want to get the latest updates. And now some folks get to have their cake and eat it, too.
