I think this coming week there’s a better chance of seeing 15.1b1 than there is of seeing 15b9 or a Release Candidate. And if I remember correctly, the beta profile is for 15 and up, not just for 15.1, meaning we’d need to remove the beta profile to avoid getting it. We’ll probably be on this beta for a few weeks until it’s officially out.

As far as any continued updates to 14 are concerned, we’ve got 14.8 and then 14.9 and all of the point updates in between. They don’t need to back port any features, just any important security updates or maybe some critical fix. They could theoretically support iDevices on 14 for quite some time. It really feels like Apple is starting to understand how things really work in the wild. In our family alone we’ve got two older devices the kids use for games and I can basically just leave them as is and still continue to get security updates. Sometimes people just don’t want to get the latest updates. And now some folks get to have their cake and eat it, too.
Highly doubtful especially considering the optics apple got when they did this with iOS 13

Then there was iOS 14.1, too. I’d say banking on things that’s happened in the past should be left in the past. Apple has seemed to learn from some things. But I stand by my opinion.

Also, iOS 13 was a mess…

Just remember that Apple only said you wouldn’t have to upgrade to get the latest security protections or updates they may add in iOS 15.

I mean, no one ever really has to update unless Apple makes it impossible for an old iOS to run. It’s just that prior to iOS 14/15, you HAD to update to get the new security and/or privacy features that might be added.

I remember for iOS 14 or 13, the GM IPSWs were released via the developer portal the weekend before the event and slightly newer second GMs were released OTA after the event.

So day after tomorrow 😁
Happy Labor Day tomorrow ya'll. This is just the beginning before a storm is about to begin. One more day to go before we get to see press invites. Proud of everyone who has been anxiously waiting and hanging on to it for this long. Still hoping for an updated RC on Tuesday/Wednesday!!!

No chance of RC until after the event, sorry to burst your bubble.

A few apps updates today 🤔 event announcement tomorrow or day after? 🧐📱⌚️💻
Remember, app updates are irrelevant to the beta process. Apple are not accepting app updates using the iOS 15 SDK yet, not until RC after the event. Remember that’s why Devs kicked off last year as Apple wanted public release of iOS 14 24 hours after the RC.

You might have been thinking about iOS 14.1. Which is not the same scenario as this, due to how last year worked with the watch and phone releases due to COVID. Or iOS 13 had an off kilter one, due to the government and importing from China. Both years were unusual, and should not be relied on to for speculation.

App updates on Monday, as a lot of the app developers have the weekend off :)

So…just like every other week.

Do any of you who think app updates portend an imminent beta release realize (A) Monday is probably the biggest day for app updates every single week and (B) there are beta releases probably 35 weeks a year, usually in the earlier part of the week (M-T-W). So, of course, there is going to be some temporal association between the two events. But, to paraphrase a popular saying here: temporal association does not equal causation.

Plus, if all these app developers were in on the “game” of beta release schedules, don’t you think someone would have spilled the beans by now, even accidentally?
