Haven’t had any real, longstanding issues with my base 15 and the 13 mini was probably the best iPhone I’ve ever owned (subjectively). Many 14 Pro users had (have?) frame-rate consistency issues in some 3D applications/games, so probably not the best example.

Also I had an iPhone 12 and it suffered from terrible battery life.
The base 15 is basically the 14 pro. Probably why its more stable. I suspect the 15 pros will just have to get solid drivers for the new hardware (wifi/modem etc). May take a few months.

The App Store widget doesn’t load anymore for me since I jumped onto 17.2, anyone else?

Apple has responded (today) to my reports on wifi issues (i submit them every beta seed) asking for more logs and information - so at least there’s some acknowledgment of the issue.

It also says “more than 10” similar reports and that a “potential fix identified - macos 14.2” yet this is an ios bug report with no mentions of macos

I thought the 15 and 15 Pro both share the same modem? X70 or whatever? Weird because wifi and cellular have been absolutely rock-solid for me…

I wouldn’t say it’s any better for me but I definitely don’t experience any WiFi issues on my 15PM.
I think this scenario can often happen with bugs discussed in forums. It’s a kind of echo chamber. The same group of people with a bug have an open chat whilst sometimes a much larger group which the bug doesn’t affect say nothing.

No biggie, forums have an amplifying effect - it’s quite interesting really.

To be honest, beta 3 is turning out to be very solid from my perspective, wireless and cellular connectivity included. Hope all the issues get sorted in the next beta for everyone of course.

I’m not sure about the modem, but what they don’t share is the frame material. The 15 is aluminum and the 15 Pro is titanium. It may be that they just need to fine tune the modem to allow for the different “faraday” parameters of titanium as @Pearsey suggested.

Reading all the wifi issues, it makes me wonder whether this is really a HW / Material or a SW thing. For all we know the only thing that should be 100% same is the material, in this case Titanium. SW not so much, as even the SW package (iOS) is the same for the 15 PROs, the users wifi home configuration (QoS f.e.), installed application using wifi on background, modem or router firmware update, may cause the wifi performance degradation. Or maybe the early 15pro got a different wifi module, which has been later identified as faulty or worse in some way idk.

It would be interesting to see a poll of iPhone 15 PRO users who have / have not wifi issues..Maybe it is a relatively small group affected by this problem. Not saying insignificant, but relative small to the total number of sold 15pros.

I'm having the exact same thoughts. I also don't understand how they did not discover the WiFi issues during testing.

At this point, I'm starting to regret that I skipped the 14 Pro for the 15 Pro.
I had the 14 PM. :( I only upgraded as I'm on the yearly upgrade program with Apple. Since I know I'm never going to pay off a phone, since I'll never go more than 2 years, might as well upgrade yearly. Now, I'm very much regretting it! Camera isn't good enough to upgrade and I still use the action button for muting, so nothing really worth it based on how miserable the WiFi has made the daily experience!

What on earth are you talking about?

I think maybe @Pearsey was cracking a joke when he suggested Titanium may be the issue...?

Nope.

Just logical deduction from what stood out to me is different from the 14Pro to 15Pro.

Biggest change, and we’ve seen the frame become a problem in the past, iPhone 4, was the metal in the frame.

Like I said a few days ago, makes me wonder that it could be a contributing factor towards the connectivity issue, seeing as it’s not been fixed yet via software updates.

Titanium-RF interferience.

I saw at least one post that a user had all sorts of issues and finally changed his router and issues have gone away. So yeah other things as you have pointed out could be causing issues.

I have AT&T fiber and my speeds are the exact same with the 15 pro max as they were with the 14 pro max. I have no regrets with upgrading my phone.

If at all, Titanium - due to its properties (non magnetic for example) - should enable a better reception compared to Aluminum. Maybe a bit of tuning is still in order on Apple‘s side.
But like I said earlier, in my experience there‘s no difference between my 15PM and the 14PM - I use an Amplifi HD mesh system for WiFi btw.

I’ve had my 15 Pro for 4 weeks now and can’t say I’ve noticed any connectivity, speed or any other issues with WiFi - either at home, or when I connect to the office WiFi at work. Phone was pre-installed with 17.0.2. I upgraded to 17.0.3 on day one of purchase, and it’s currently on 17.1.

Here are the details of my home Router/Hub (which is provided by my broadband company):
  • Autosensing ADSL2+ and VDSL2 modem
  • Dual band WiFi with next generation 802.11 ac “Wave 2” support
  • 2.4GHz (3x3 802.11b/g/n/ac) up to 290 Mb/s
  • 5GHz (4x4 802.11a/n/ac) up to 1700 Mb/s
  • 4x RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet ports
  • 1x RJ11 broadband port
  • 1x USB2.0 port
  • WPS PBC (push button configuration)
  • Auto-channel selection

All WIFI 5. It quite possibly could be issues only with wifi 6 or 6e. I like the post from @Brachaci suggesting a poll to see what the folks with issues are connecting to vs ones without issues.

But in other news it seems WIFI on the 15 Pros is the only blaring topic being discussed regarding 17.2 B3. Maybe a good sign. :)
