Interesting but I doubt its iOS causing your issues. I have a launch day XR with orig battery and no such issues as you. Perhaps kill all apps and reboot and see if it settles down. If its choppy then something is running in the background (mail, iClould sync, etc).
After iOS 17 was completed with update & restart. I then updated all my apps. and restarted again after swiping all of them up to close.

I believe it is iOS 17 causing these issues with me. Was getting close to 8 hours SOT with iOS 16 using almost all the same apps as with my dismal 17 results.

This is a terrible RC for my 13 Mini. Decided to go iOS 17 as I have a Samsung Flip for my daily driver now due to Apple’s horrendous support.

It’s been 24 hours with a 100% charge up included. Already down to 75% charge left with 52 minutes on screen & 27 minutes off.

No apps updating in the background except weather. Also, choppy as hell going between apps.

How does Apple do so much injustice to a device that’s only 2 years old?? It’s been almost 3 months since 17 was released!

You’re down 25% after 24 hours?

Well of course. It takes several hours or a day for things to settle after an update. If you updated iOS then all apps immediately afterwards then yeah it will most likely lag a little for a while. Give it some time to settle down. I suspect the iP13 will run 17.2 superbly.

Fair enough although since my 1st post on this thread, now down to 65% charge with 79 minutes SOT & 30 minutes off. Phones not even warm and I burned 10% of my charge just interacting on this thread. That’s quite the hit.

It’s strange it is not even warm. If it’s burning so much battery, one might think the A15 is using a lot of power.

I will wait to read others’ experiences before updating my SE 3

Despite Depth Effect being turned on, it doesn't appear to work even after redoing my wallpapers. There's no motion when rotating my phone in any direction.
I've actually figured out how to get this back AND how to keep it working.

1. Restart iPhone OR change your zoom level in the Display & Brightness section of Settings (don't worry, you can change it back now). This is crucial because it restarts your springboard (a soft reset if you will)
2. The 3D Parallax effect should work now, but do not... I repeat, DO NOT swipe to the App Library OR the dedicated Widget screen. Doing either of those things will break this effect again.

Fun fact, when it's broken, the little red notification bubbles will be the only things that will move. You can test this by recording your screen and rotating your phone around.

For the record, I tried to tell people about this bug and everyone just shrugged me off like who cares. Well, I would like my iPhone to work the way it was designed... is that so bad?

Edit: Just so you're aware, the depth effect on the wallpaper screen is not the same as the parallax effect on the icons on the home screen. It doesn't have anything to do with motion or rotating your phone. The depth effect simply means part of your wallpaper will cover up part of your clock.

Is this color-matched ring around the Dynamic Island new? My bad if not as I’m not super familiar (got my first device with it, an iPhone 15, in late Oct.)

Draining the battery a lot after updating. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max that was on 17.1.2. I updated, turned it off, turned it on again, the battery is going away fast.

Safari - it’s flipped again.

Tab with all text zoomed out a bit - maybe 25%?
Switch to another app like YouTube then switch back to Safari.

17.1.1 - on switching back the text was shrunk
17.1.2 and Beta 4 - the text was zoomed out to like 200%
RC - back to shrunk like 17.1.1

chuckle 😂🤣

After the final release of iOS 17, I dropped out of the beta cycle.

I jumped back in yesterday, primarily to check out the Journal app.

Wow, folks seem to be missing this one. What a gem! Full access to walks, places you’ve been, music listened to, photos taken.. it’s a delight to write short entries!

I’ve never felt it so easy and delightful to journal before.. such a win

Looking forward to this being searchable and available on Mac and iPad, likely next year :)))

What were you on before installing the RC? Your phone could still be indexing after the upgrade.

When’s the last “clean” install you had? Could be you carried over something from a previous install.

Also, you just said that after the install you updated all of your apps. There a possibility one of those updates is causing an issue.

I’d be interested in seeing your battery stats from the moment of upgrade. Simplistic view but it can tell you a lot about what is killing your battery.

I have run iOS 17 on my 12 mini from PB1 with no issues, so you need to look into your battery stats - both software-wise (Settings > Battery) and hardware (Coconut Battery). In my family we have people running iOS 17 on iPhone 11 and no complaints, so you need to explore your particular case.
