I can share links and photos successfully from Safari or Photos using iMessage on iOS 17.2 RC2. It does not work with Whatsapp though (and hasn't worked for a while IIRC).
I’ve just updated my iPhone to 17.1.2 today and can’t share anything via the Share Sheet to WhatsApp from Safari (not tried from Photos.app). It was working yesterday on 17.1 which I was previously on. Presumably whatever Apple have changed to patch security exploits has altered something that WhatsApp need to update their app for. I’ve reported to WhatsApp.

iOS 17.2 still has that weird bug that’s been happening for me since updating to iOS 17 regarding available storage.
It’s changes all the time and it’s not 2-3gb but more than 10. I actually had to delete all of my downloaded Spotify music because iOS started showing me notifications that I’m running out of space even though on iOS 16 I had all of my music downloaded and had around 50gb left. Today, in the morning I had 42gb available and around 4pm I had 29gb available even though I deleted some photos and videos. There are times it’s even lower than 10gb. At this point I don’t even know whats the real available storage on my phone anymore.

Also wow the way the keyboard lags on this version… just writing this made the keyboard lag like 5 times. Definitely worse than previous betas and RCs.

Other than that and the bad battery life I keep having since iOS 17.0 B7, I haven’t seen any bugs.

Same here, iP14 Pro, from iOS 17.0 some apps (even the Apple’s ones, like Telephone) are using 5/6gb in the “document and data” section, sometimes iOS seems to cleans that enormous amount of cache for 10 minutes then it’s back to what it used to be or even more.
Restart/force restart/factory reset didn’t help.
Apple Support told me that I have so much free storage (200gb+) to give the case to Apple engineers, they do that only for people who have very low space and are experiencing troubles using iPhone.
So, call Apple Support until you find the right person who might take the case seriously and reports it to software engineers

Can't send messages to anyone with iPhone lol good job Apple. I knew I should have stayed on 17.1.2

I had to manually delete contacts with iPhone and even then I could only send sms message. iMessage is completely broken.
Happened to me also this morning. Ipad and my Mac are fine but something is screwy with Imessage on my iphone 15 pro max.

I don't know if it's 17.2RC or the latest WhatsApp update, but I can no longer send messages via CarPlay.

I came from Android in 2020, with an iPhone 7. This was honestly the one thing I really missed immediately about Android. I always had a big clock/weather combination widget at the top of the first page of my Home Screen.
I don’t come from Android (well, I once had one smartphone on Lollipop but without widgets), and despite this, I started placing the big clock on the first page starting on iOS 15. I don’t know, I like how it fits there. I’m not even sure I watch it more than the small clock on top of the screen, but I just like the way it looks.

I have the same on my iPad, with the clock, weather and calendar widgets, and once I get a Mac compatible with Sonoma, I’ll do the same on the Mac.

LOL am i going to stay stuck on ios 16 forever? I was planning to upgrade to ios 17.2 but appears to be still crappy perhaps wait to ios 17.3...

Don’t use this forum as a barometer of the issues with iOS. It’s just fine. Some people have issues but they are few, far between and mostly minor in the grand scheme of things.

The nature of a forum like this is such that it to amplifies issues far beyond their innate seriousness.

Your statement is incorrect. Issues are not amplified when someone reports or highlights them . They just exist. The majority might also face such issues but either they do not bother reporting to forums or simply they don’t give a *****.
Issues are important as long as devices are affected, not by the number of people bothered to report them.

Profound stuff there. And also very very incorrect. The numbers of people affected matter. No rational actor is going to devote time and money to fixing issues faced by one or person or even a hundred people when the universe of devices in the wild is measured in the billions.

Human psychology is such that people who are dissatisfied with something are more likely to complain about it. That’s why we don’t have page after page here of people discussing how satisfied with this or that feature. They simply don’t say anything because there’s nothing to say, not because “they don’t give a ****”, as you so elegantly put it. So what we end up with are essentially distilled complaints that might represent 1/10,000th of the user base (and that likely is generous).

I don’t know about you, but I am ok with those odds. Consequently, I am not going to base my decision whether or not to install a particular OS version based solely on anecdotal complaints from people who don’t represent in any meaningful way the typical user, given (A) their technical savvy, (B) their knowledge of the devices in question and (C) their general enthusiasm for the devices. The average user doesn’t care if 1 frame in 200 drops or if there is a slight jagginess in the scrolling of a web page.

You are the luckiest person on these forums be be still on iOS 16. If I could downgrade, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah 17 still isn’t as solid as the latest 16 releases. Could be a while by the looks of it. I’d like to take a leaf out of your book though when it comes to 18 next year. It’s a great tactic.

Can someone confirm if screentime works or does not on iOS 17.2

It was mostly working fine for me until 17.1 and now both my Mac and iPhone record usage but neither shows up on either.

On the Mac it shows "screen time usage will be appear when the iPhone is used" and vice versa.

It is up to you, but I have moved to iOS 17 since PB1 and find it working as well as if not better than iOS 16 (used on iPhone 11, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 15, iPad Air 3 and iPad Air 5).

With zillions of different device setups, some people will have bugs, which is the case with any OS, but they might not affect you personally.

I would wait for an official iOS 17.2 release, as it might have a different build from the RC and decide then.

what do y’all think of the Journal app? Have you used it?

I updated my iPad to 17.2 and sadly doesn’t come with the Journal app. Excited to try on my iPhone.
