How often is it that nothing changes from an RC? I turned off the public beta switch after installing the RC and I’m not getting the official build. Looked at my iOS version and it’s the same, so I’m guessing nothing changed🤷🏻‍♂️
Unless Apple needs to release an RC2, the RC is the same exact build as what is released to the public.

17.2 public released just now. Not installing until 17.2.1 with bug fixes. Can’t believe they pushed 17.2 with no changes from the RC

Anyone else holding off? Or are you going ahead and installing the public release?

Is the lag/stutters fixed that was present in earlier versions of iOS 17?

I didn't have any issues with 17.2 release candidate, so I'd be installing the public release if it weren't the same build number as RC. My 15PM is also getting better battery life on 17.2 than on 17.1.2 or earlier.

I know a lot of people have had issues with the 17.2 betas and the RC ranging from annoying to extremely disruptive. So there are good arguments for holding off until 17.2.1 comes out, and seeing if it fixes some of these problems.

Well, since it's a "Release Candidate", if everything goes well there won't be any change on actual release.

No point in holding on or off. I'm on the RC, which is the same as the public build. So I'm already on 17.2 and don't need to do anything :)

Um why not? Because the “Release Candidate” IS the release build 99.9% of the time. And no need to hold off. But if so then why not wait until 17.2.2 to fix the 17.2.1 bugs? Or 17.2.3 to……………..

PSA….turn this off on ALL your devices unless you want a disaster. Whoever thought up this favorite system to add favorites to your library by default should be fired and then taken out back and slapped silly. Messing with anyone’s music library should be OPT IN NOT OPT OUT. Bad bad bad decision Apple

favoriting something on an iPhone will still add it to your iPad library If it’s not shut off everywhere.

Okay, what am I missing? What’s the problem with that setting being enabled?

I just updated and the very annoying keyboard volume issue is back. Normal volume while typing and then randomly blasts at full volume, then back to normal. Not to mention pressing an area of this text paragraph to edit or add text, and you can only replace the entire word, not insert a space or delete a character. Unless I’m missing something, it is incredibly annoying.

Agree, Its a JOKE that a trillian dollar company is unable to fix a keyboard-volume bug for years.

I will wait for 17.2.1

Yeah the holding off approach always cracks me up. Like every single version of iOS doesn’t have its own issues.
No software is 100% bug free, no software is 100% exploit free. However, it makes sense to hold off a few releases in order to minimize any potential issues and maintain reliability. Now, I'm not saying I intend on sticking with iOS 16.7.2 on a device that has iOS 18.7.2 available for download, but later builds are far more stable than earlier releases (e.g. 16.7.2 v 16.0). So, waiting until iOS 17.3 is made available before upgrading from 16.7.2 is by far a more sensible approach unless, of course, there are any known critical security vulnerabilities that require patching.

Ideally, anyone running 16.7.2 should upgrade to 17.2 because there are known exploits with 16.7.2 that were patched in 17.1.2.

Yeah, this makes perfect sense to me. The early releases in the cycle are usually the most bug-ridden.

The keyboard sound bug is actually a very old one. I can remember it happening as back as iOS 14, maybe even earlier.

Found a bug with Siri integration into Apple Health. I logged my height in Apple Health as 5 foot 9 inches. If I ask Siri my height she says 5 foot 10 inches. I used a different app to log my height as 5’9” Siri says it’s 5’8”. I’ve deleted all height and started over and it’s the same.

Basically Siri is incapable of returning a height of 5 foot 9 inches.
