Battery life is very average for me with the 17.2 RC. With 17.1.x it felt better but it can be a placebo. Always hard to tell.
WhatsApp is working fine again with the share sheet after the recent app updates.

I've actually figured out how to get this back AND how to keep it working.

1. Restart iPhone OR change your zoom level in the Display & Brightness section of Settings (don't worry, you can change it back now). This is crucial because it restarts your springboard (a soft reset if you will)
2. The 3D Parallax effect should work now, but do not... I repeat, DO NOT swipe to the App Library OR the dedicated Widget screen. Doing either of those things will break this effect again.

Fun fact, when it's broken, the little red notification bubbles will be the only things that will move. You can test this by recording your screen and rotating your phone around.

For the record, I tried to tell people about this bug and everyone just shrugged me off like who cares. Well, I would like my iPhone to work the way it was designed... is that so bad?

Edit: Just so you're aware, the depth effect on the wallpaper screen is not the same as the parallax effect on the icons on the home screen. It doesn't have anything to do with motion or rotating your phone. The depth effect simply means part of your wallpaper will cover up part of your clock.
Well crap. I use the dedicated widget page constantly... Cause I'm one of those people who have had the same layout since the 5S (including the now empty row at the bottom of the page when the 6 Plus was introduced, lol).

Screen Time Requests have gotten a great update. We use this with our kids and prior to the RC, the requests would show up as a standard notification on our devices, but after updating to the RC, the requests go through iMessage now with a dropdown menu for processing. This is an awesome update for that feature IMO.

Has been like this for me since 17 was released

Can't send messages to anyone with iPhone lol good job Apple. I knew I should have stayed on 17.1.2

I had to manually delete contacts with iPhone and even then I could only send sms message. iMessage is completely broken.

Not had an issue with iMessage.
If it’s completely broken as you say, just do a restore, which has fixed issues when I had them back on iOS 16.

For those who have the 17.2 RC on iPhone 14 Pro, how’s that in terms of performance, battery drain, overall presence of glitches/bugs?

Except for sending messages in WhatsApp via CarPlay (which may have been fixed with yesterday's WA update), I'm having no issues at all.

That's awesome, my wife still doesn't have it and she is on the latest iOS 17 non-beta, and it just started showing up on mine after the RC, part of my assumption it was new.

Jeez, Roblox is apparently still a thing and kids are still addicted to it. Some things never change I guess. :)

It's only been a few days but I think this update fixed my Apple Watch 5 battery life, that is still on watchOS 9. I wear my watch while sleeping and it's back to waking up at around 85% instead in the 70s. I'm no longer dropping to under 20% at the end of the day.

what do y’all think of the Journal app? Have you used it?

I updated my iPad to 17.2 and sadly doesn’t come with the Journal app. Excited to try on my iPhone.

If you are new to journaling, don’t want all the bells and whistles of an app like DayOne, it’s just fine. I really like the suggested topics to write about based on who you’ve met or talked to or places you’ve visited.

Just like most Apple apps, there are more sophisticated entries out there if you want more. But, I’m guessing, most people will be just fine with this app, at least to start.

I’m sure more enhancements will come in later iOS versions, along with versions for the iPad and Mac. But the phone is the hub to it all.

Great. I just want them to bring it to the iPad so I could use the Magic Keyboard. The iPhone keyboard has become so unreliable to me. Typos galore. Didn’t happen before.

I just added to my post above as you were typing. I think they wanted to get it right on the iPhone before expanding to the other platforms. I agree, it would be much easier on an iPad (just like I am typing this!). But since the phone is the “hub” of the way the Journal app “sucks up” info, they probably wanted to get it locked down there first.

I keep getting Software Update Failed after submitting my phone pin. Anyone else?

Edit: Reboot fixed it.

You are the luckiest person on these forums be be still on iOS 16. If I could downgrade, I’d do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah 17 still isn’t as solid as the latest 16 releases. Could be a while by the looks of it. I’d like to take a leaf out of your book though when it comes to 18 next year. It’s a great tactic.

Well being fair i have learnt 2 thing on these forums through the years first one wait for a more mature version like X.2 but the second one is also perform a clean installation each time a X version is released both go together, i know its a pain to redownload each app again but i prefer stability.

We are reaching X.2 and i dont know if the people that are still complaining performed a clean install or not.

Also one cant remain on the same old ios forever things change, apps version change, so im really considering it to make the move to ios 17 today.

How often is it that nothing changes from an RC? I turned off the public beta switch after installing the RC and I’m not getting the official build. Looked at my iOS version and it’s the same, so I’m guessing nothing changed🤷🏻‍♂️
