Don’t hold your breath. Perhaps they do this to make the new iPhone 15 with the best battery ever… Nothing would surprise me about the most greedy company on the planet.

I very much doubt it. Can you imagine how easy that would be to prove.

Sounds like you don’t like Apple very much.

I do but I used to do the same with my iPhone 13 Pro Max and that phone was handed down to a family member with 99% battery health after 12 months 😞

Hmm. I was just going to suggest maybe not for a week and just see if that makes any difference at all. Can’t hurt. I’ve always found optimised charging temperamental on betas also. Might be something else to test just having off.

Download coconut battery, for free, and just check all your battery stats, see if there’s anything sinister going on.

Yup, same here. My 13PM had 98% after a year when I gave it to my girlfriend.
I used an Apple MagSafe charger for overnight charging with optimized charging enabled. I do the same with my 14PM and it‘s down to 96% by now (from 100% before I installed the first iOS17 beta)

They did it before. And they do everything to sell their phones…

I like their products, but not the company and their greedy way of doing business.

It must be the ios17 betas that are causing the battery life issue 🤔

Beta 6 and 7 haven’t been good on battery life for me. Getting 5-6 hours of SOT. I know this is a beta so I’m not talking about that, but I’m so tired of having subpar battery life on my 14PM in general. It’s never been good since day one. Really, really hoping for much improved battery life on the 15 series.

All big corporations need to keep increasing revenue but most greedy part is your prerogative.
That planned obsolescence conspiracy has been tried and put to rest time and time again. Objectively, Apple is the only company that supports their devices the longest with software updates. And with recent changes to iOS, security updates continue even when iOS itself isn’t supported for a specific device.

People don’t upgrade to new iPhones just cuz it provides an extra hour of battery anymore and in general are holding on to their phones for at least 2 years as evident from their recent earnings report. So your logic doesn’t hold water here.

Joined on beta 7. It will be 4 days on Sunday since installing on my iPhone 12 Pro. Batteries not too brilliant atm. Safari the biggest user! Not sure if there’s anything knew in Safari on 17 worth turning off. Will monitor.

Beta 6 was okayish for me, but beta 7 is just bad.
They'll fix the battery life on the 15 series just to make it bad with iOS 17.5 so everyone upgrade to 16 series 🤪

I’ve been using the betas for the last month or so on an iPhone 14 Pro Max which I purchased on release day.

I still have 99% battery health.

I think that only people with a bad experience post. Quite possible that the vast majority of users actually have good battery life, like me, and don’t post because…well why would they?

I’ve still got 87% capacity from original release iPhone 12. So very happy with that. My battery drain over the day is quite bad but hoping Tuesday’s beta 8 improves it. 👍

I was on iOS 16 until a few days ago when I installed b7 and battery consumption is massively higher, particularly when left overnight. In iOS16 the battery percentage would drop by 2% at most and last night it dropped by 12% doing nothing. Battery health is still at 100% as before on a six month of iPhone 14 Pro Max.

All of these battery tips people are giving are very user specific and are going to differ depending on the user. I use my 14 Pro Max heavily and charge it overnight every night. I have optimized battery charging on and also charge it in my car via a wireless magsafe connection as its always connected to wireless carplay and I use maps every day. My battery is at 100% on the latest developer beta and I do absolutely zero to manage outside of what the phone does on its own with optimized battery charging.

Iphone 12 beta 7 has been pretty darn good with battery life....the best of all the Betas. The only reason I went with IOS17 is due to having so many issues with IOS 16----battery and Carplay for the most part. I would say Beta 7 battery life is better than when I was on IOS 16 at any given time.
Battery health sitting at 95% down from 96% on the original IOS17 beta.

🔋📱 100% battery health - 1 year on!

My Phone is weeks away from being a year old and I still have 100% battery health 🤯

Heres what I do, not to say it works for everyone, but hope it helps.
I've been doing this since iOS 15, on my main device, using all the betas - currently on iPhone 14 Pro.

- I charge my phone when it hits red, or, if its at 50% before I go out.
- I do use tethered car play too - but I'm not in the car daily.

Optimised charge is off, because I don't like leaving my phone on charge all night, I think that's the damage which ages these battery's so quickly with all that charging, nearly 8 hours of it if you sleep well. No need, regardless of the features function, which ether works or doesn't some nights and can lead to more charing in the day because your left at 80% first thing. Over a year, those nights it doesn't work is where the damage creeps in, I think anyway.

Don't over charge, meaning, I have a shortcut set up with an alert when my phone hits 100% after charging, so I unplug it.

Battery's are there to be used, use it and enjoy your phone. If it runs down, charge it up. People get so transfixed in wanting a phone to charge to 100% and it lasting 2-3 days - The Nokia 5110 days are gone. It depends how much you also use it. Some days, yeah, I get 2 days out of it. Other days I hit red twice in a day. It really doesn't matter.
If your phones at 100% and 10 minutes later your on 50%, then thats a different story. Call Apple.

This is my personal battery behaviour and it works for me. You might completely disagree with everything I've said or do and believe optimised charging is a wonder to the world, thats fine, thats you. I'm not saying I'm right ether, I'm saying, I still have 100% battery health a year on... have you?

Hope this helps 👍🏼

Thank you for sharing your insights about battery health. World-class post! 🔋 💪

Sadly, I'm already down to 89% battery health from the Pre-ordered Launch day iPhone.

I'm a heavy pro user. In addition, I also have a feeling you might not be using your iPhone much. Do you mind sharing your battery stats so it can be determined how much Battery is actually being used, please?

Please see the iPhone 14 Pro Max battery usage below. I'm wavering just 5-6 hours of battery life on a single 0-100% charge. I'm curious to see if your iPhone usage is the exact same or not. Maybe you are using your iPhone 1-2 hours a day thus charging every day or often is not required. Lastly, from Friday-Monday the battery usage is a lot higher because I went on a vacation to Chicago and I was glued to my iPhone.

I like that usage screen 😊. 89% for such heavy use since day one is actually quite decent. No worries here, battery replacement incoming- in the form of the 15 PM I figure…

I too believe my 14 PM battery has degraded a bit faster under the iOS 17 betas. It used to last for almost three full days under iOS 16, now I’m getting 1 1/2 days out of it with frequent use of low power mode.

Day 1 with Beta 8 - iPhone 13 Pro Max, I unplugged the phone at 6 am, it’s 1pm now and I’m at 41% of battery left with just 2h11min SOT.

At this point it’s pathetic that beta 7 and 8 are so bad than previous beta 6. I’ll wait few days but if it’s the same I’m going back to iOS 16.6 which also was bad but not like that

Yeah we all know you hammer your phones. Each to their own though. 👍🏼
And you change your phone EVERY year, so I wouldn't be too bothered, if bothered at all, by your batteries heath.

I'd say it's fair to say I'm a medium user then, as some days its 6 hours like you, but others is 3hrs. Average is 4hrs.

These charts though don't show enough individual information about our unique set ups. You might have every notification under the sun on. Fetch mail every 15 mins or push on. Significant locations going off etc etc, say compared to me. 6 hrs and I'm hitting 50% battery used. 6 hrs and your at 100%. 6 hrs of Safari vs 6 hrs of camera usage would do that to understand this difference. (I'm not about to go into all that though thanks)

But here you are... I think the essence of my original post, which maybe I should of been clearer, (I've change the title to my original post) was its the way I look after my battery thats note worthy helping the health. As I experience severe battery health dropage, like some of todays users on here on my iphone 12 on ios 15 betas. 2% a beta sometimes.

So time for a change to what you read about today and things have dramatically changed for me.

My health tanked from 97 a few weeks ago to 94. I suspect the last few betas. But phone is fine otherwise. I can always replace the battery under my Apple care. But idk if I’d do a beta again.
