here on 17.1 Final with 15PM, battery life is not that great. Most time (90%) WiFi only around 7-8 hours screen one time…
I think it’s time to reset it via DFU and restore without an iCloud backup? (I did fresh install when I got my 15PM without iCloud backup)

So far I’m disappointed with the 15PM battery compared to my 14PM.
I also noticed battery indicator sometimes drops in 2% steps. Like from 44 to 42% or from 16% to 14%…

View attachment 2303236

And this was a full day with max 25-50% display brightness…
Now imagine your battery life when you away from wifi in outside light, for me mobile phones are most used when you out and about, thats where the battery maters, when I'm at home/office I have other devices that I use which offers better screen real estate ( tablets/laptops/PC).

Lets say in your example getting 7-8h SOC in what I would call ideal condition where you on lower brightness and connected to wifi is not good on brand new device.

As for the battery procentage dropping by 2 I noticed this is well, but had the same problem with 17.0.3

If you do the reset procedure let me know how you get on 👍

Same thing here, 15PM, sometimes dropping 2%, i thought I was insane and was only in my mind.. Also.. I have similar battery life as you have since I got the phone (17.0.3/17.1 RC1/2 and final). Let me know if DFU restore fixes the issue for you :)

I finally upgraded to iOS 17 this week when 17.1 dropped and the battery life on my 13 Pro is horrible. Severe drain and no real explanation for it.

Might give it a hard reset and reinstall everything from scratch as a last resort as this is completely unacceptable.
I have iPhone 13 Pro Max and I've been saying all the time that iOS 17 has killed the battery life for me.
With iOS 17.1 it's slightly better but not what I used to get with iOS 16 (and funny enough iOS 16 was also worse than iOS 15 lol)
Actually, just on wifi I'm getting maybe 1-2h SOT less than on iOS 16, so let's say it's *fine* but as soon as I go out and am on LTE it's so bad... 5h SOT from a full battery is what I'm getting which is half of what I used to get on iOS 16. I don't even turn on 5G because I can only imagine how worse it'll be.

Whatever they did to modem updates or iOS in general, for ME personally, they made me start to hate my phone. It's a huge, heavy phone that lasts as long as my old, smaller and lighter iPhone 12 Pro.

Wow, this usage pattern is similar to mine, and even if we assume that 100-80% would last 3 hours (unlikely with the 80-10% numbers you’re getting), that’s significantly worse than my iPhone Xʀ... and a Pro Max on its original iOS version (any of the 5 released), should be significantly better.

9-11 hours on Wi-Fi would mean about 6-7 on cellular with heavier use. Or a bit over half of what I get on my Xʀ on iOS 12.

Yeah. As soon when I did DFU and try iCloud backup I’ll let you know. If this won’t work as I expect. I try another DFU restore without any iCloud backup.

Never had such a bad battery life before.

The iPhone 13 PM on iOS 16 was a beast. My iPhone 14 PM before I got the iPhone 15PM was very good too… but something’s really wrong with iOS 17.

It’s a shame getting top state 3nm technology etc and spending so much money on a mobile device with such a bad battery life. Come on Apple.

I have an android phone Poco F5 Pro (just for testing purposes etc) that last longer. It can’t be!!!!

This again? I’ve seen this happen once. My iPhone 5s on iOS 8 (!!!) skipped 60% and 30%, going 61-59% and 31-29%. I guess it was some iOS 8.2 bug, which is the only iOS version that phone ever ran. I never saw it again.

Does it skip the same percentage every time?

I don't think it skips, but rather decreasing by one additional point very rapidly. My gf iphone 12 pro does the same on ios 16 though. Never had this issue on ios 14-15

At most, you have to set up FaceID again. The only time consuming part is activating all the cards in your Apple Wallet again. Other than that, you just set it aside while it downloads your apps+data from iCloud. Then you just go into the apps and log back in to enable FaceID login again. Shouldn't take you more than 30m or so after everything has downloaded.

Current battery stats:
Last charged to 100% 52m ago, 51m screen on time, 100%.
I've restored my phone from the DFU mode and couldn't create a backup on my Mac because it wanted to save my photos as well but on my phone I've set up "optimize iphone storage". Don't know why. So I've used iCloud backup and I still have all my data. I can even use my banking apps completely.

Let's see how the battery life will change. And other bugs I have.

Looks like around 2h 10 min 100-74%. If the usage was on Wi-Fi and brightness wasn’t high, that’s mediocre for a modern iPhone, it’s 6-7 hours of Wi-Fi use.
I don’t even know how you got these numbers haha. I don’t know why I can’t understand how to use this screen. I was using WiFi only and medium brightness.

unfortunately not that much better life here 17.1 RC - iPhone 15PM must time usage was around 30-50% Screen Brightness and now from 30% with airplane mode.

What I still found out is that „find my drained a bit - over night and during“
I disabled this function here in the „find my settings section“

Maybe I’ll turn off Find My for my AirPods Pro too because there is the drain coming from IMG_1689.jpeg IMG_1688.png

I start counting battery consumption only after charge is done. Like seen in the Graph because the battery stats count screen on time all in all even when charging!
So it was around 5h from 80% to 28%

My 11 seems worse after updating to 17.1. This morning I took it off the charger fully charged. After an hour in my pocket with nothing running it had dropped to 89%

Yes, I can confirm battery life is crap compared to ios 16. I reinstalled ios 17 from.fresh. I had the dsme crap battery in both ios 17.0.2 and ios 17.1. But now I can't downgrade

Just interested to know your usage and why it’s been on the charger sitting at 100% for so many hours? Maybe you aren’t bothered but that can’t be good for battery health over time.
Oh that's because I was doing a iCloud restore so I had it plugged in so it could download the iCloud messages, photos, etc.

It’s absurd because it seems that there’s nothing that works. There’s no hardware buffer that Apple can’t break. There’s no hardware overhead updates can’t obliterate. The 13 Pro Max was absurdly good on iOS 15, with the device going for something absurd like 28 hours of SOT with light use and now you’re saying that with LTE you get 5 hours on iOS 17? Unless you’re using it extremely heavily, full brightness and something like full GPS, 5 hours is absurd. Can you please share a screenshot?

I thought that maybe the 13 Pro Max would be the first resilient iPhone through sheer “firepower”. The processor was so efficient on iOS 15 and the battery life buffer was so large (28 hours of light, extremely efficient use), that I thought that was unbreakable. Well... I’m surprised to read this. They broke it this quickly?

I’ve always said that my initial assumption was that the iPhone Xʀ was unbreakable. Like I showed above, 16 hours of screen-on time with light use on iOS 12 is possible. Go ask iOS 17 users what they’re getting with moderately heavy use now... it’s far from that. While I understand that heavy use makes all the difference (I’ve used my Xʀ with full brightness, LTE and 4K video and battery life drops to 7 hours. I know battery life can be poor if you push it on any iOS version). But unless you tell me you’re using like that, 5 hours is too poor.

Seems like there’s no efficiency that Apple can’t cut like knife through butter with iOS updates. At this point I think this will never change. Want battery life? Never update. Otherwise just tolerate it...

Does anyone have any issues with battery drainage through the HomeKit app?
The Missus is at work, not using her phone while in the pocket and lost 40% battery charge. Main contributor is the homekit app she never uses.
Asked her to remove it for now.

This is the 2nd day in a row. Restarted the phone, no updates due… just out of the blue.
