A crash message in iOS 17 Beta 1.

Well that sucks!! Maybe you should try what I did yesterday. A reset settings seems to have helped a lot. Just be careful of the things that they change and don’t tell you.

Just finished setting up Personal Voice on my 14Pro. Tried to enable the setting on my XS Max only to find out it's not there. 😅

Does anyone know the phones compatible with this feature? Thanks!

This isn’t an iOS 17 specific problem, but just a pet peeve of mine in general of iOS. I hate when, if you accidentally create a calendar event with the incorrect start time and you try to edit it later, it changes the end time too. Yet when you try to change the end time, it doesn’t change the start time (which is the way it should behave when editing the start time). Is there a setting to stop this from happening that I’m missing?
Windows & outlook does it too, so does Android.

Does anyone use a tracker blocker similar to Lockdown Privacy? It drains battery in the background quite a bit, even though I have all Background App Refresh turned off. It acts as a VPN and they claim there could be battery drain if a rogue app tries to constantly access the internet but is blocked by Lockdown. However, when I check its log, nothing is being blocked during the battery drain.

Any alternative tracker blockers out there?
I’ve always had good success with 1Blocker.

Where I can turn off firewall?

What did you turn off exactly? I’m experiencing quite a lot of battery drain while idle. I know, it’s a beta and I shouldn’t expect great battery life. But if there is a (temporary) solution that would be nice :)

How can I do that?, where is the firewall setting?

Must be an app. There is no firewall in iOS.

Think he's referring to the app Lockdown. If I remember correctly it's called "firewall" in the app. But there' no system setting like it that can be turned off.
Correct, yes, I was referring to my earlier reply about the Lockdown app, which refers to itself as a VPN/firewall for its blocking capabilities. Turning it off/deleting the VPN got rid of my background drain.

Has anyone had a phantom call. Literally at 0100 my phone was locked, on charge on my bedside table everyone was asleep but my phone dialled 911 (I’m in the UK so not even the right number) I was woke up by the sound of a voice coming through my HomePod (also on ios17 beta) which I ended the call but have now got the police coming round to check nothing suspicious going on

One thing I was surprised about on Thursday during my visit to the Apple Store is that we have more faith in the beta than all of the Apple employees do. They think it’s like if you put the beta on your phone you should just expect that nothing is going to work. It’s totally better than that!!

Ha I worked at an  retail store for almost a year and one of coworkers who was a tech specialist was deathly afraid to put the iOS 16 beta on her phone when that came out. There were a few of use there running it on our phones.

The Genius Bar specialists want to spread that FUD because they would be the ones having to deal with beta issues LOL. Even though there’s no official support for phones on beta people would still come in and complain.

I'm really not a fan of the change in CarPlay Maps regarding exit numbers. the black box in the upper left corner now only displays distance remaining, and the exit number and street name are only displayed on the blue route line. I find this difficult to see at a quick glance since the blue portion could be in a different part of the screen every time. I submitted feedback asking that exit number and street name be moved back to the black box in the corner.

These aren't the most demonstrative screenshots, but I've had a few instances of the exit/street name being off in a corner. Don't worry, a passenger took these screenshots for me.

Has anyone been able to update their HomePods?
Not sure if you were able to get iOS 17 on HomePod, but there was an update posted in the feedback app to disable/enable HomePod beta in the software update section for HomePod.
I had to also unplug/plug my HomePod to get it to download.

I will say iOS 17 on HomePod ended up breaking a lot of my HomeKit automations.

Tap the black box. You’re in the ‘Alerts only’ screen. If you tap it, it will expand and Siri will give directions.

Really? I have it installed on all my HomePods and automations work just fine.
