is it me, or is the Contact Photo & Poster feature still one giant mess?
  • There is place in Settings -> [Name] where you can tab on your profile picture to adjust it. This interface is however so unintuitive. It allows you create Contact Photo's and Posters and then assign it to you'r contact card or something, it took me half an hour to figure out how it actually works.
  • There is a place Settings -> Messages -> Share Name and Photo where you can can then tab on your profile picture to adjust it.
  • Then there is the same item in Settings -> Phone -> Share Name and Photo, but when you go there, there's only a single radio button and you can't adjust your Name and photo like you can in the messages setting.
  • Then there is a tab in the phone app where you can adjust it, but that interface is totally different from the one in the settings app. The one in the phone app allows a lot more customisation.
  • There is no such tab in the Messages app. Why would they allow you customise it from the Phone app, but not from the Messages app?
  • All in all everything seems really buggy, with Contact Photos and Posters randomly being created, duplicated or deleted. Colors are randomly reset to grey. Contact photos are not always properly aligned with the round crop area.
I really don't agree with Aaron Zollo on this that it seems to work flawlessly here. There is still a very long way from being finished.

So I've only done it through the phone app, and I just got my partner on the public beta and had him set it up. When we call each other, the contact posters aren't showing even though we have it turned on. Might be doing it through the phone app is broken. I didn't know about those other ways, but the way you put it, it's way out of control. lol. Going through your contact card makes sense to me.

Weird -- Settings just claimed new iOS 17 Beta 3 available (even already running B3) ... same for iPadOS 17 b3

Just loading and checking build number ... seems I missed that update completely on my radar
I just saw something that said Apple released another emergency update for a safari security bug. Maybe it was that? Edit: Nevermind, I went back to look and it was for iOS 16.

I know it’s a beta, but I’m honestly hoping for significantly better battery life with the iPhone 15 series because I’m just so tired of mediocre battery life since iOS 16 (and now iOS 17 betas 1 and 3).

Please take a look at the front page of MacRumors or search this thread. All of your questions will be answered.

TLDR version: Apple rereleased iOS 17 beta 3 yesterday, apparently to include the same security patch that was in the security update you referenced. Apple also rereleased the security update this afternoon after hopefully fixing the issue that caused problems with Safari.

Iphone 14 Pro has been a mess with the battery. Wish Apple would put some large batteries in (and quit killing it with software) because I don't even have AOD on and the battery is ****.

In on the iOS public beta and just downloading Watch OS10 beta…. Let’s see what they’re like!

I‘d be interested if there are still issues with IMAP accounts….
@bricktop_at I fixed the imap issue I was having by deleting a sub folder in my inbox. Worked after that. I had to log in to my email account via the web to delete the extraneous folder that way. Incidentally - the problem did not show on earlier versions of IOS/Mail client. I could still access the email account via IMAP on the MS Outlook client.

I so badly want to throw iOS17 on my main device (14p) because my battery is so bad with 16.5 it’s ridiculous. I had 3.5 hours of usage on my phone and it was down to 20%. Awful recently, was hoping 17 would be better but based off a lot of the posts it would be the same ugg

Anyone else’s 14 pro battery absolutely shattered from b3? It’s 2:30pm and I’m on 40% whereas on iOS 16 I would’ve still been around 80% 🥲

(I know there’s battery thread but I’d most likely get more answers here, apologies on that)

Never install a beta - much less an early beta - of a major release in the hope of improving battery life. Ain’t gonna happen.

on iOS 17 public beta i am unable to connect to iPhone Hotspot on Boost Mobile with eSim from Other Apple devices.
Is anyone having issues connecting to iPhone hotspot on iOS 17 beta or is it working for you on Boost Mobile?
iPhone Hotspot works fine while on iOS 16.x.
I tried reseting network setting but no luck.

Got a bug with standby mode.

If you have the night mode option on (where it switches to red for low ambience) but then toggle it off, it won’t turn off unless you hard reset

Another;

the Fitness widget stops displaying the data whenever you lock the phone. Opening the app and closing again restores it but loses again when locking
