How many betas usually appear prior to GM? I think I might install iOS 17 when it’s much closer to completion.

The ‘low hanging fruit’ bugs like service drops, rotation issues, dropped frames, battery loss etc seem like too much of a trade off for the benefits offered at this early stage. The system seems to be peppered with such small niggles - should be renamed ‘iOS Hard Restart’

Bear in mind: these issues apply to a very small number of users. I’m not experiencing any of them, for example.

Nice touch with animated lock screens, when you use a Live Photo.

You turn on or off the Live Photo feature but what’s missing the ability to focus where on the photo you would like it to be centralised. When I put a landscape Live Photo as the wallpaper, it seems to left justify, rather than using the centre of the photo, I was unable to move it around as with standard photos.

Of course you could duplicate the photo and crop it before using it as wallpaper.

It’s a bit of a lottery though isn’t it. Wouldn’t particularly like to be the guy with the issues.

True, or crop it first in the photos app, add to wallpaper and then revert the image back in the photos app. The cropped version stays in the wallpaper and the original photo is reverted to original form.

If frame drops and battery drains are dealbreakers for you then there’s a good chance you might experience those on public release as well. No version is safe from those.
For me b4 has been flawless with zero issues on my 13P and I’m sure plenty of others share the same out there.

Anyone else having trouble customizing the lock screen? All my widgets have disappeared and i cannot add or change the wallpaper on my lock screen.

Yes that is the first thing I did. Bring to avoid reinstalling from a clean slate
Haven't read to the end yet as I'm a couple pages behind, but don't start from a clean slate until you try a re-install from the IPSW. Won't harm your data at all and resolves a lot of issues when the OTA or prior IPSW goes awry.

Which model is that?

14PM here- I'm able to add and remove widgets on my current lock screen as well as change my wallpaper, add a new lock screen, add widgets on it as normal.

After doing a clean install and restoring from backup my Message history is missing. I’m only getting messages from the past week. Yes I have iCloud messages turned on. Anyone else having this issue?

Cliche question warning- have you done a hard reboot?
I've done it about 3 times. I noticed when i woke up this morning that it was working until i rebooted the phone and it stopped working again. My original wallpaper shows but the widgets are missing. If i long press the lock screen to edit the widgets show up again until i exit edit options. Also all my other custom lock screens show just black wallpapers now.

Thinking about reinstalling the IPSW.

Try changing the region to something else in General-> Language & Region and you should see the wallpapers reappear. Can change the region back to yours after.

The Remainder widget interaction is buggy. I have been checking off tasks from my Reminder "Today" sheet and last one could not be checked out and did not disappear until I opened the app, where the task has been already checked out. Once I have closed the Remainder app, the widget wasn't showing any remaining tasks.

Something new I’ve never seen before: when I signed into an online service (fabric.so) Safari offered to autofill the email verification code in the same way it already does for sms text verifications. I haven’t tested this with other services yet, but it’s another great quality of life improvement.

Thanks! This works as long as I don't reboot the phone. Worst case just have to reset the region again!

Is anyone else having issues with the email app? The unread inbox isn’t displaying any messages. It does display the > icon to expand the messages but nothing displays. It started with just the unread inbox, then a couple of other inboxes started doing the same thing. A reboot did nothing. A hard reboot fixed the other inboxes but the unread one still isn’t displaying anything. I’m pretty sure it was working last night after the update.

Try deleting the old wallpapers and create them again after changing the reason and before a reboot. And then reinstall the b4 again.

I had the issue on b2 but hasn’t happened since.
