iPhone 14 Pro always on display not working with beta 5. Weird since I haven’t had any problems with the previous betas
I’ve had this issue since the first couple of betas of iOS 16. Apple really messed this up. It continues on iOS 17 as well

Sorry if this has been discussed, but is anyone else experiencing instant crashes after trying to search in the App Library? Mine is crashing right away after inputting one letter in both my iPad Pro 11 and iPhone 14 Pro Max
Nope

The UI stutters on homescreen have been somewhat fixed in this Dev Beta 5. But it hasn’t yet reached the smoothness of iOS 16.1

Hope the future betas truly make it the smoothest iPhone 14 Pro Max it once was.

We saw it in previous betas. Some people weren’t experiencing it, whilst others were. No different this year, just that this year it’s affecting you, but didn’t last year. It affected me last year, but not this year. Such is beta life.

Once we get to RC, you’ll see it resolve, same as it did for most that had the issue last year.
Glad I’m not the only one. Hopefully by the next couple of betas it gets fixed. Thanks!

Just got a voicemail and I cannot hear anything when I hit play by listening by ear or speaker. Any workaround or any other way I can listen to it?

Latest beta causing me constant voicemail alerts for messages from 2-3 years back. Clear All in Deleted Items does nothing. Is there no way to delete all?

Story time.

I had an issue with this beta (incoming Facetime video calls weren't working properly) so decided to do the IPSW thing. No point asking Jesus or reading his earlier posts, because how hard can it be.

1. Google IPSW for iOS 17beta for iPhone 11 - find a search hit to Apple's site, and download it
2. opt-upgrade on Finder
3. Profit

Except ... I didn't bother checking *which* beta I'd downloaded. Things went screwy. All my widgets refused to load, Focus modes dead, wallpaper dead. And, worse, I had to unlock my phone as if I had an alphanumeric code instead of a purely numeric one. I unlock by muscle memory. Almost locked myself out! Anyway, got in, two hard reboots, no better.

Decided to check for updates.

Got one. How come? Well, I had put B1 on top of B5. Surprisingly, after putting B5 back on everything was totally fine! Well, apart from the original Facetime issue which came back. Decided to reset my caller's contact photo and that seems to have fixed it.

Hopefully someone here remembers what it was.

As for the changing of the buttons and positions of the phone app in the iPhone 17 betas... unless it is a folding phone... I can't see why the buttons would be moved to the bottom, and even then, a folding phone is usually used unfolded...

Anyway... as you said, we shall see! I thought I read Apple wasn't doing folding phones until 2025... but anything can happen when Apple is involved! :)
OH, I wasn't suggesting a folding phone. I don't see any way that would not have been leaked by now. If it were coming and not leaked, that would be the biggest "one more thing" in Apple history, I think. No, I was referring to the rumored Action button (like the one on the Apple Watch Ultra) that will be the combo mute and shortcuts triggering button.

Never had this issue with iOS 16 betas. It’s definitely an issue with iOS 17
Some have it and others don't. And it can vary between betas. In most instances its no problem as it seems to be "phantom" bytes occupying it (though I think some have reported out of memory errors when installing apps or downloading large files) when they should have 100s of GBs remaining "for real".

Believe me when I say that betas are actually much more stable than the days of yore. iOS 7 betas were a dumpster fire.
100% agree with this. In addtion to iOS 7 (and the early days of iPhoneOS / iOS), recall iOS 13, where Apple was very explicit that installing the early betas could be very rough. And it was. My GPS was messed up for about 6 weeks as they fiddled with something in the GPS radios. The last two years have been cakewalks by comparison.

iPad Pro 11 / Magic Keyboard

The onscreen keyboard popping up while using the Magic Keyboard is back.
Intermittently pops up and have to manually dismiss it. First time seeing this in 17.

Feedback filed.

Not sure when they added it, but on iPadOS you can set lock screen widgets like iPhone when the iPad is in portrait mode.
I didn't know this existed until now. But then again, I don't think it was a good idea... especially on my 12.9 iPP. It doesn't look optimized for the larger iPad, probably won't be placing widgets in portrait mode.

After a few days on beta 5 in the iPhone 14 Pro Max the only slightly irksome issue I’m experiencing is that my Photos app is no long identifying people in new photos I’ve taken.

Anyone else seeing this? I’m sure it’ll right itself in the next betas.
