Are you using Sleep Schedule in the Health app or the sleep focus mode? If so, those will cause you AOD to go dark during sleep hours.

Cuz you’re supposed to be sleeping not watching your phone!
Nope neither are on... sleep schedule has never even been set up, and never activated sleep focus mode... Weird stuff.
This issue started with iOS 16. Idk wtf Apple did but they really messed up AOD. Device for some reason around 10pm or later starts to go black completely. I’ve submitted multiple bug reports about this and still having this issue with iOS 17
Horrible, I almost wish I was back on ios 16 for this alone. I hope apple fixes it.

I now realise what the fuss is about, Apple has completely changed the phone interface when you're on a call, and has placed the hang up button on the right.

Hopefully Apple revises this before the final release, a lot of people don't seem terribly happy about it - alternatively, hopefully we all get used to it and it's no big deal. :)View attachment 2243988
I’m used to it and it’s no big deal.

Never had this issue with iOS 16 betas. It’s definitely an issue with iOS 17
This definitely was an issue for many and myself for at least 2-3 major iOS versions and across new devices each year. The bug was present the entire time for multiple years. I was very active on the thread for a long time. I tried every possible solution including a fresh install many times, over many different iOS versions. Beta and not. Mine would typically sit around 40-60gbs. It was infuriating when I couldn’t use that space when I needed it. I actually just gave up and came to terms with it. But isn’t it funny, when you stop trying to control things in life, they get better. Well unexpectedly iOS 17 beta has solved it for myself. I’m sitting right around 10gbs all the time. Which is reasonable to me.

Anyone else getting prompts for “local network” access when you open the apps today?
I’d been seeing requests for access on pretty much every app today and I already had them disabled.

what are those squared notifications? Read that a lot in Beta 1 and 2 threads

Not my screenshot.

Wow! Thankfully not. For me it's just on occasions Face ID doesn't unlock the phone and it gives me spinning discs where the lock symbol is.

A couple of banking apps I use will Face ID, fail, thrn try again which is always successful.

So I’m thinking, this is just an app update once iOS 17 is released. Because everything else works great.

Are you talking about the system storage? Mine is fine, it’s around 12gig. The issue I’m having is that 3rd party apps like facebook, instagram etc are using a lot more data/storage with minimal use. For example the other day I deleted and reinstalled instagram. Data of the app was around 345mb, in 24hrs it was taking up over 1gig of space and it’s happening with all non Apple apps. Never had this issue in iOS 16 betas

Well the fact that both my iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPad Pro 11 were crashing where trying spotlight search, made me realize something was wrong with my specific configuration, since no one else was having the issue. Just restored both devices without using backup, resintalled all my apps and now it is working, and it is much snappier than it ever was. Can’t recall how many iPhones ago was the last time I did a clean instal, but highly recommended to do it once in a while. Now beta 5 is running like a dream in both devices, and the issue is completely gone.

I was talking about the storage bug. Whoops 😬 yeah I haven’t seen that issue.

I am sorry to see that so many people are having problems. But as for me, this entire beta has been a dream. Now on the 5th version, I can’t honestly say that I have any problems. Totally different experience than iOS 16 though all of the versions.
Yeah I don’t seem to have any issues with beta 5 either. To be honest, it feels very like version 16 to me. A few nice little fixes to things like autocorrect but iOS remains 95% the exact same.

No bad thing - I think regular people will be okay with it.

Not for me, totally the opposite. from what I’ve seen in this thread, it’s more in line with my experience than yours.

You’ve not expanded on what issues you’re seeing with this beta, either.

Was mostly just posting to warn people of the possibility, but obviously YMMV.

Battery and performance seem fine (though they've largely been fine for me the entire time), but so far I've noticed:
  • the Phone app keeps randomly un-deleting voicemails from months ago
  • the clock in StandBy doesn't update while the screen is asleep, meaning its often behind by many minutes or hours
  • AirPlay is weird all around...it randomly disconnects, lags significantly when skipping back and forth, takes forever to connect
  • Widgets aren't updating properly and sometimes totally disappear

I wouldn’t say those in your list are major issues to warrant not updating from B4 to B5.

The first one was happening in earlier betas.
The second one I’m seeing and have reported, but it’s only on the first layout set, not the clocks when you swipe all the way to the left.

The last 2 I’ve not had as an issue, and I’ve not seen many people, if any, posting about that issue.

Are you sure you didn't put on Android by mistake :D

Just kidding. I'm on B5 (been on Beta train since B3) and not one of those issues.

Well you may think that but they're far more annoying to me than something like poor battery life or dropped frames, and I personally would not have updated had I known about them in advance. Hence why I'm alerting others.
