Well you may think that but they're far more annoying to me than something like poor battery life or dropped frames, and I personally would not have updated had I known about them in advance. Hence why I'm alerting others.

Which is all well and good, but your OP gave no indication about what issues you were alerting to and just a broad ‘skip updating to B5’.

It would have been better if your OP was more like ‘people that use the following might want to be aware of these issues before updating….’

😊

If I am not loving ios 17, how easy is it to revert to ios 16? I can download the software of course, but worried if I try to restore I will not be able to use my backup from this morning (because it is one from ios 17)

Basically, you will, as backups are not backwards compatible. can only restore an iOS 16 backup.

That’s why you should keep an iOS 16 backup on your PC or Mac before updating.

iCloud backups are overwritten by default, so yeah, if you don’t have an iOS 16 backup, you cannot revert back from iOS 17 and keep your data. Only full restore to iOS 16 and setup as new device is your option in that case.

Perhaps save yourself some time and energy and wait for the things to get better with the new beta next week? It is not like iOS 16 is super loveable either. 😋

Very strange bug/behaviour I’ve noticed with the Standby feature. I have reported via feedback app & this is on iPhone 14 Pro Max with beta 5.

I use the Standby feature at night with the Digital Large Time with the small date & temp widget that fills entire screen. I noticed since beta 5 that the time is not always correct & it falls behind. I use at night & now on 3 occasions when I’ve woken & it’s detected movement & time come on, it has not been the correct time. I’ve known this as my wife’s time on her phone (app from App Store) been about 10 mins later. I’ve then checked my watch & the time has been what wife’s time says. If I swipe the phone to select a different widget/time & then swipe back , the time will suddenly jump to the correct time. Rather annoying & clearly a bug. Any one else ?

Cheers

Yup seen the exact same issue on this beta.

Back with this beta ... Contacts

Both my 13 ProMax and iPad Pro 11 contacts are via the iCloud.
The 13PM gets the iMessages and forwards them to the iPad if via SIM. If via Apple ID they both get.
With this beta, any iMessage if in Contacts gets the Contact name. On the iPhone.
The forwarded imessages, even if in Contacts gets the phone number of the sending party.

Had this in an earlier beta and it went away. Now it's back.

The exact issue had been discussed and confirmed in posts #372 & 373 while yours is #386.

Are you talking about the voicemail symbol shows you have a voicemail or several? If so, I had this and then had to activate "live mail". The messages showed up, unread---I deleted them and the voicemail note or "number" is gone.
Nope doesn’t work for me. Voicemail indicator still there but no actual messages. Bizarre how this has only been introduced in beta 5!

At what point do we start reporting the green bubble wallhugger-like battery life?

At five betas in, I’m getting concerned.

My Pixel 6 says otherwise. 6 and half hour since last charge, still 21 hours estimated battery life. I don't have so called battery problem on my Android.

Beta 5 on a 14 PM is going pretty good for me but still see/have a few issues. Have reported these but when I look at the people having issues it says 0, just wanting to see if anyone else is having these issues. 1.) Notifications pull down is slow to populate and they are bunched together without being able to separate them. 2.) If you go to settings and tap General the Fonts and VPN & Device Management options are slow to show up. Lastly adding a phone number (manually) to the block list doesn't seem to work. If I open the Settings and go to Phone then to Blocked Contacts. If you tap on it it takes you to your list of blocked numbers, if you tap Add new, it opens and at the top it says Add Blocked Contact. It has your iCloud contacts but gives you no options to add a number to the list. I have just phone numbers from my other phones that I want to add. Sorry for the long post.

Ever since installing this one, my phone is piping hot with battery draining VERY rapidly… multiple restarts have not fixed it. YouTube app is completely unusable. YouTube music inducing 100% drain just idling in the background in the middle of the night.

As both a Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 user, I am will be skipping Pixel 8 this year as it will be just a incremental update. I will wait until Pixel 9 or 10 when Google switch to TMSC for its Tensor chip.

I read the Pixel 8 is getting a 3nm chip and some big camera upgrades. I may get one to go along with my iPhone if Apple doesn’t cripple it.

I am sorry to see that so many people are having problems. But as for me, this entire beta has been a dream. Now on the 5th version, I can’t honestly say that I have any problems. Totally different experience than iOS 16 though all of the versions.
Same here. I‘m really happy with b5 and see no major issues on my end.
