Having lots of difficulty with iCloud Photos and Photos app on B5 on my iPhone 14 - all pics are blurred but later look fine and then when trying to look at them again the Photos app hangs (though seem to be fine when looking at them on my iMac) - reported bugs - more of an annoyance than anything.

I now realise what the fuss is about, Apple has completely changed the phone interface when you're on a call, and has placed the hang up button on the right.

Hopefully Apple revises this before the final release, a lot of people don't seem terribly happy about it - alternatively, hopefully we all get used to it and it's no big deal. :)View attachment 2243988

Exactly. I want the speaker button back to the right.

This row bug is annoying. Restart fixes it, but comes back.

I’m not saying this is one of those situations but do remember that sometimes these inexplicable things that crop up during the betas all of a sudden make sense when the new phones are introduced in September.

I forget what it was specifically last year but IIRC there was something that made no sense during the betas until the Dynamic Island was introduced. Then everyone went “Ah! That was it!”

Here, perhaps this change relates to the rumored new physical Action Button.

We shall see!
That's all well and good for folks buying a new phone this (or every) year... but seemingly bizarre OS changes that only make sense with new hardware is not a good thing.

And if these changes were not explained/understandable after the hardware was released, I'd agree with you. But this is during a beta, and Apple has no obligation to tell us anything about why it's doing anything.

The new interactive widget stuff has made the Stock widgets worse. I used to tap on it to see my watchlist; now I tap and it shows me whichever stock was tapped on, so it takes extra taps to get back to the watchlist.

I really don‘t get why they don‘t allow us to pick which contact poster we want used for individual contacts (e.g. have one for business contacts etc). Your contact posters only being shareable through iMessage is also a mindboggling design decision for countries that don‘t use iMessage.

Unless I’m misunderstanding you, you can choose the contact poster for any contact?

You go into the contact, tap edit, then tap the edit button below the contact photo and you can customise, which includes picking a contact poster.

I want to pick which contact poster (of me) I want to share with a contact, not which poster (of a contact) I want to show up when a contact calls.

I believe you can do that. At least I did that on my 14PM for myself.
No you can only select the contact poster of the contact when editing a contact.

There is a very tedious way to achieve what I‘m suggesting:
- Create the contact poster you want to share with a subgroup of your contacts
- Mark it as active in the settings app
- Go to iMessage where a banner should show up now that prompts you to share your info

Then you have to revert to your preferred contact poster again. There is no explicit way to pick which of your many contact posters you want to share with which contacts.

This is quite annoying. Just reinstalled from the ipsw. Same issue. Very weird that I seem to be the only one that has it across all my devices....search is completely broken.
This is the kind of thing that annoyed me in previous betas for older iOS versions!

For the weekend?

Also used to it, no big deal. I don't know what there is to be upset about?
It’s left handed people that are annoyed. I’m right handed so I’m not worried, but why doesn’t Apple let users choose where the end call button goes?

It would be a simple option in the phone app settings… or accessibility…

Report it as a new feature.

Response will be:

“Hello there,

No need to introduce any new feature for that, you’re just using it wrong and not how we want you to!

Solution: if you’re left handed and on a call, just turn the phone upside down and then hold the phone slightly higher up. By magic the end call button is now on the left!

Yours,
Timmy Cook

P.S. yes the speaker phone and mic are now the wrong way up but that’s more of a you problem than our problem.”

Bring on beta 6 next week
