I jumped on the tvOS beta with my 4K and it went kaput. Showed me a a phone with a Bluetooth logo on the screen next to an Apple TV which would bring up the option to “recover” but nothing ever happened. The screen would go black and then it would come right back.
I decided a full power cycle might be the ticket but after disconnecting and reconnecting power it would show the Apple logo for a few seconds while the status light blinked and then it would reset.
Talked to Apple and they said I needed to send it in for repair. I have three Apple TVs in the house and have never had a problem with any of them before this.
Not saying the beta broke it, but just sayin’…
As this is an iOS thread I’ll say Beta 8 is humming along nicely on my 14PM, as is usual. Very happy with this phone right now and can finally say the quality of the software can be compared to that of the hardware and the overall experience is heading in the right direction.
Weather app lists street names as well as town/city?
I’ve been running betas on my daily driver phone since sometime in the iOS 3 cycle and have never had a catastrophic failure like this. Luckily it was only one of three boxes in the house so no doghouse but it’s definitely an inconvenience. If I did that with my ONE AppleTV, I would be sleeping on the couch for a very long time…
Does your wife also have an iPhone? If so, what are the iMessage addresses (able to receive iMessage) configured on HER phone? I would check there to make sure that it hasn't changed or been updated. (We are seeing all sorts of settings that have been updated during installation of this beta.) I get prompted to pick an address all the time if I don't specify "mobile" when making the request.Yeah, I know that… but it’s NEVER prompted me for that distinction before in any previous version of iOS or any previous beta of iOS 17. And if the destination is the same (text message to my wife’s phone) it should not matter - not should it even be a question that I need to answer.
As others report excellent battery life, it's sounding like you may have a runaway process, likely associated with a 3rd party app. Screenshots of battery usage would be helpful.Battery life is still crap on this beta.
The keyboard lag is insane on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. I am a very fast typer and the faster I type, the less it can keep up. It literally feels like typing in word on windows ME with little to no ram

For me, B8 is pretty much the same as B7. Which is a good thing, as B7 was excellent on my iPhone 11.
Her iPhone 14 is running iOS 16.6 ... and nothing has changed on her end - her phone, her version of iOS and her iMessage settings... THAT was my point... that MY iPhone with iOS 17 beta 8 suddenly started prompted me to specify phone number or @me.com address, which it has never done before... her entry in my address book in changed from probably 10 years ago... and her settings have not changed. The only difference is MY iPhone being updated to iOS 17 beta 8. That is why I mentioned it.Does your wife also have an iPhone? My usage hasn't changed. I'm at at home, on wifi, all day. On the 16 beta train, I would mostly hit the 4pm mark in the neigborhood of 60%.As others report excellent battery life, it's sounding like you may have a runaway process, likely associated with a 3rd party app. Screenshots of battery usage would be helpful.
On what apps? Is it the same in all apps?
Facebook the main offender; no surprise there! Anyway, battery doesn't seem as bad as your making it out to be. Could be some background indexing going on.My usage hasn't changed. I'm at at home, on wifi, all day. On the 16 beta train, I would mostly hit the 4pm mark in the neigborhood of 60%.
Frankly, this beta is worse than 7 was.
And I even slept in this morning, lol.
A 20% difference is “as bad as I’m making it out to be.”Facebook the main offender; no surprise there! Anyway, battery doesn't seem as bad as your making it out to be. Could be some background indexing going on.
Give it a couple days. You just installed yesterday.A 20% difference is “as bad as I’m making it out to be.”
Like I said, my usage hasn’t changed. 60% when it’s time to clock out means I don’t have to charge midday to make sure I can go out after work.
The battery life of this beta cycle has been crap.
Because it’s a betaThe system location services settings were reseted for me. And why is the keyboard always so laggy?
Yes. How does that affect this beta?still got its original battery?
