wird, I did install the mobile device.pkg from Xbeta, but it says it needs a software update to be able to install the RC. Is there a new mobilepackage.pkg - it worked with beta 8

My suspicion is that you would have no issues and that the system is misreporting the status. But I can understand your desire to be cautious.
Considering my Music app is apparently using 20GB of storage without any downloaded music there is definitely misreporting going on. Not too fussed though as I'm getting a 15 Pro which will likely resolve the issue when I transfer over to it.

after installing RC, I could notice while typing first letter, keypad changes to small and without bold. Is it bug or some feature introduced in this build?

Just noticed that the iOS 17/new iPhone feature of focus switching after taking a portrait pic is available on iPhone 14 Pro Max. Take a portrait pic and edit it to see. Tap the pic whilst editing to change the focus.

13 Pro Max working too.
This is a REALLY nice feature, I’m amazed it wasn’t kept just for the new phones.

Alongside the new 48 megapixel heif photo capture, these new features may keep me on my iPhone 14 Pro Max instead of getting the new one.

Got to see the reviews to see if the new 24 megapixel standard pics are much better though.

Yes, really nice feature, I think it’s for all iPhones that do cinematic video which is the same concept. Or maybe all that do portrait.

And, I completely didn’t realise you could do this, but if you press and hold on the focus modes, you can then manually focus. I was quite amazed at how clear it focused all the way across my lounge at some book spines.

See the dial… this is just on standard photos, not even 24 or 48 raw.

It was lots of fun hanging out with you Beta crew over the last few months. It was great, especially the speculation threads just minutes before the new betas would arrive. ;)

Now that the RC have been installed via IPSW on all my devices and it all feels very solid, I will be leaving the Beta train until Beta 18, most likely, unless Apple brings something super-duper mid-cycle.

Special thanks to @Pearsey for providing simple IPSW installation instructions, making any post-OTA update troubleshooting smooth and fast.

Keep it up, the amazing Beta lot, thank you all and see you around in other threads! ✌️

We cant tempt you with iOS 17.1 just around the corner? 🚂😆😂.

Lovely message, thank you!

Since the update each notification coming in while I’m using the phone vibrates the device. It used to be before this update that my notifications would just appear in a banner without accompanied vibration when the screen is on. Anyone else noticing this?

That’s all well and good for an organization with infinite time, infinite people and infinite resources. Which describes no organization on earth.

Personally, I’d rather have them squash bugs related to security and usability. I really do not care about minor blemishes.
Couldn't agree more

Battery thought, wait till the official release is out and then that week/month see all your apps start updating to the new SDK. Then, once everyones on board with iOS 17, you should see EVEN better battery life as apps would have been tweaked/polished to work better on the new platform - potentially.
