It takes a couple of steps but you can do it natively.

  1. Open a new note in Notes
  2. Touch the Camera icon and then choose Scan Docments.
  3. Scan one or more pages and then touch Done.
  4. Share to Print.
  5. When you see the preview use two fingers to zoom into the preview.
  6. Touch the “v” icon on the upper right and choose Save to Files.
  7. When you save the file, it will be a PDF.
I mostly just use Microsoft’s Lens app for this but if you need built-in, that is the process.
Thank you!

Can we get the built-in ability to scan a document with an iPhone and save said document as a pdf in iCloud?
This already exists. In the Files app, tap the “circle with the 3 dots inside it” icon at the top right, then tap “Scan Documents”.

P.S. Just saw someone else already answered with this, even down to the description of the top right button, lol! 😂👍🏻. I have to say, this is one of my favorite applications for my iPad’s rear-facing camera. It generally gets great results, and it means I always have a scanner with me! I use the feature on my phone as well, but it makes the iPad feel like a complete office tool in one package! 👍🏻. (Though it can’t print,…yet?) 😂🤣

You can also do it from the Files App. Enter the Files App, Explore, and tap the three dots in a circle icon. There, from that menu, you can select “scan documents” and it will save it as a PDF on the Files app, or even in iCloud directly, whichever is on screen in that moment.

I didn’t know this feature, but someone on this forum shared it and I learned it.

This need to be a long press option for the Files app from the Home Screen.

I’m hoping iOS 17 will finally solve that Safari issue when you tap a link and it doesn’t load and you try to refresh but Safari just doesn’t seem to wanna do anything..

thanks. I had forgotten that you can start from the Files app and not start a new note.

Wow. Thanks from me too. I just tried it and that works really well. Once the picture is taken I see that you can even de-skew it by choosing the two overlapping rectangles icon and dragging the corners to the corners of the page in the photo.

BTW, I'm not sure if it is a country thing (I'm in the UK) but on my phone where Populus says "Explore" the icon in my files app is called "Browse". Pretty obvious but I thought I'd mention it in case it gives anyone else a brief moment of confusion.

My mistake, my iPad is in Spanish and I did a mental translation. It’s probably “Browse”.

Real time messaging! 💬

Even better making it a native API and let the developers of all the different messaging apps to integrate it, with different icons. Because all the features that can be included in iMessage are cool, but many people use other messaging apps.

For instance here in Spain where most people use Android, if you suggest to communicate through iMessage, most probably people will look at you like a snob. Here, WhatsApp is -sadly- the most used app, by a big difference.

That’s been around for a decade, unfortunately only for jailbroken phones, a cool little tweak that Apple never copied, maybe one day.

It could be implemented into the dynamic island now.

I’m hoping that iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 make the App Library folders customizable. Currently, the folder system can be a little less than ideal, so generally I tap the search bar to get the alphabetized list view. I use the Affinity apps for design work, and the folder system automatically puts Affinity Designer under “Creativity” and Affinity Photo under “Photos”. I don’t even know which one it puts Publisher in. And since the App Library is the main way to switch apps on an external monitor, I’ve been using it a lot more often, even when using my iPad by itself. So hopefully they will change that, maybe even add an option to use the alphabetized list view as default. As it is, it’s still plenty useable, especially when using the list view, but it would be handy to create my own Folders to organize the apps into if I want.

I believe those folders are tied to the app categories in the App Store and the publishers choose the categories. Still it doesn't always make sense for the consumer and I would love to be able to move apps from one folder to another. I've heard speculation on us being able to rename the folders, though that may not help if they still group apps together in ways that don't make sense.

I wish the folders would stop moving around at random. I get used to having an app in one spot, and boom..it's on the other side of the screen somewhere. Come on apple, seriously? And yes, again, OS level theming.

Ditto. I see this occurring randomly also with iOS 16.5. But because its webkit related there is a good chance when IOS 17.0 beta 1 arrives it will be behaving differently. (at least we think so ) ;)

Is the scuttlebutt that the "Personal Voice" will be our own voice? Like, recorded and some how Siri'fied to make it sound like us? So we can talk to ourselves as we stare at our phones?

I think it brings more recently uses apps to the top on the folder preview in AppLib. That seems like a reasonable approach. If you mean that the folders are on different side, that might happen if you added an app from a category that was not on your phone before and added a new folder.

I hope they give us the option to listen to lossless Dolby Atmos tracks. This should be possible by encoding in Dolby TrueHD, but I don't know a ton about audio so someone can correct me if I don't know what I'm talking about lol
