Most users already have difficulties even remembering what’s new with iOS and easily forget most of these new features. It’s why in between new versions introduced at WWDC someone can readily write articles about things you can do on the latest OS that most have forgotten about. It’s no joke. ;)
My wife said the same thing when I told her the update was ready. “I’m supposed to learn all this new stuff?”

A whole new way to interact with with your phone on charge and the live voicemail feature are by themselves a huge update. I really don’t understand what some folks expect.

Talked about it in this (or another?) topic a few months ago. Apple doesn’t inform about new features in the way that big amount of users learn them and can apply them in their daily life

I think the younger generation takes these things on much more efficiently with word of mouth and showing things off like in Messages. Like how cool is this sticker?

Sometimes it’s just that nothing is ever good enough… 200 new features, 1000, there will always be something to moan about or take joy in stripping it down.
But I’m glad they are in the small percentages on here and the majority of this community enjoy the software and the process of taking the rough with the smooth and sharing their fixes.

It’s also FREE software. If anyone gives me anything free I’m incredibly grateful. But what can you do… hard restart? 😆😂

we saw 15.1 beta and 16.1 beta the day after the public release of 15.0 and 16.0 so it seems like it should be coming today..

maybe its not ready, waiting for macOS Sonoma next week.. who knows!

really thought it would have been today based on previous betas being the day after public release

did look at some other betas and it looks like 11.1 beta 1 was released a week after the public release of 11.0 so it is a possiblity that we might not see the beta for a week.

(Edited quoted post for context)
How about a calendar widget that scrolls, can be resized, just decent widgets PERIOD, icons/widgets that can be placed anywhere, why does everything have to float to the next available empty spot? icon titles that can be removed or edited, ringtones that can be much more easily converted or just simply downloaded from a favorite tune as well as alerts and alarm tones, same option, so that everyday users can make it happen, not find a YouTube video that details some long overly complicated method, just ridiculous. Oh, forgot they want to sell us ringtones at over a $buck$ a pop. What if we don’t like their ringtones? Tough s**t!
There is way more stuff that can be made better for the end user and if that isn’t the preferred choice for said user then give us a frickin’ choice, yeah, choices, what a concept. And while they’re at it a smarter Siri that can read a text when my phone is locked. What’s the point of being able to read a text handsfree and respond if I have to hold my phone up to my face while I’m driving? None of these things would be considered a security risk so why not let us have more options. Apple’s the boss, oh yeah right, that’s why. Half the upgrade stuff is missed by the vast majority of users anyway. Not at all impressed with ios17, at least 80% of the so-called upgrades I’ll never use. Another thing, I thought they were going to fix the keyboard to be more user friendly and intuitive. If I type “theyre” it doesn’t always insert the apostrophe, I constantly have to recheck and go back. And voice typing? Forgetaboutit. Terrible. Constantly have to recheck and fix. But I honestly can say I wasn’t expecting anything worthwhile with this update so not disappointed. I have 2 iPhone 13’s, an SE and a new iPad. They all have the same quirks in iOS 17. I also use android and switch back and forth so somewhat of a phone nerd. But seriously here’s a question, how about hiring some android app devs to help Apple figure out how to make proper widgets🤣
This is just a few things that folks “expect” but will never get from Apple because it’s their way or the hiway.

It's the first time I think when I want it to be delayed for the next week, as I just sold my iPhone 14 Pro and I'm waiting for the 15 pro to come this Friday!!! 🤣

I simply cannot just sit and read what's new without having any device to test in on :(

iOS 17.1 beta 1

Todays chance | 60%
Next week | 40%

One thought I just had after reading this: maybe they are waiting till next week to prevent the restore problems for people who are getting new phones and forget to make an encrypted backup on 17.0 on their current phones.

Speculation postulation: will we see the journaling app in 17.1 ? I doubt it but it’s possible.
