They’re losing money in France

In 2 minutes

Who is losing money in France exactly? 😋 Apple stopped selling iPhone 12 in France ages ago and small or individual resellers, as it is customary here, will tell any governmental authority to go and “cook an egg”, LOL. So as far as iPhone 12 is concerned, Apple can release that fix by Christmas if they wanted and nobody would notice.

Yep. Perhaps Thursday or even Friday (one week from RC2 to final public release).
I have a feeling if it's not tomorrow we are looking at next week. Tomorrow gives them plenty of time to release it and if they can't get it out by then that means it's been delayed a week

Just thought I'd add something to think about. A Ios release has never come 2 weeks after a RC release, has always been the week after. So if it does come next week it'd be the first

From the original ANFR article, published in October 13th (in French). I quote:

Something has clearly happened.

Aaron Zollo doubled down that it will be this week but I could see if it's not tomorrow possibly an RC3 to fix whatever has gone wrong

I'm of the opinion it's still coming this week. I think if the update had been tied to the event next week we would have seen a beta 4 and maybe even a beta 5 with the RC to follow next week.

I am going to guess that either the iOS 17.2 / macOS 14.2 beta cycle is going to be really short or that new Macs will ship with a special build go macOS 14.1.

What’s iOS 23 going to look like? We haven’t seen a significant change in looks since iOS 7..

Watching Mr. Nobody on Amazon.. it’s got me in a strange mood

good points we usually see a RC build after a apple event
in this case the RC is already been out for awhile and should be out this week the public version
give macOS 14.1 a special build for the new Macs

I'll likely wait till 17.2 or so before updating, just to more likely avoid any issues. I used to update earlier, but after a charging issue with the MacBook update in 2021, which wasn't fixed until 12.4 was released, I've been waiting longer. Hopefully 17.1 will be trouble free so I can update sooner.

Let’s consider…

Apple knew about their “Scary” event on 30 October well before, so it is not a reason for them to delay the iOS release, else the RC would be out this week, on Monday or Tuesday. Instead, we had RC2 on Friday, for all iPhone 15 only.

My guess is that something iPhone 15 related did not work as smooth as expected, so Apple are working on that and then effectively blending RC1-RC2 and, possibly another build, together.

There has also been a large number of app updates over the last 24 hrs, which usually means that an iOS update is coming soon.

So I hope it will be out today, on Wed, 25 October.
