I agree with this.

It's even possible that the pending iPad release is blocking Apple from pushing these updates.
I'm not sure I would say that the iPad release is blocking these updates, its more likely that Apple planned its software releases around their hardware releases so that they would all be released at the same time. Apple is, first and foremost, a hardware company, and all software releases are in service of hardware sales.

Why is it so hard for people here to accept that Apple likely changed its release timeline for 17.4 to accomodate the DMA and has just reverted to its already pre-planned schedule for the balance of the 17.x releases? Its the simplest explanation and, thus, using Occam's Razor, the best explanation.
Because that wouldn’t make much sense, they’d waste several weeks of valuable development and beta testing time for iOS 17.5 just for what? To supposedly “stay on schedule”? By that logic, they were supposedly already “scheduled” to release beta versions of iOS 17.4 these weeks, so in order to “stay on schedule” they could just release a couple or few more betas for iOS 17.5 in the place of those “scheduled” iOS 17.4 betas. Then they’d stay on schedule, and iOS 17.5 would just be that much better for it with more beta testing before launch…

I really hope they drop an update today. I don’t believe there’s any good reason to waste weeks worth of beta testing and development for iOS 17.5.

If it has code for new products they would hold back, also the current releases were rushed because of the eu so they want to go back onto a normal schedule

They often just release minor updates that include references to new hardware, so I don’t think that would have to hold up the entire beta testing process. Also, a “normal schedule” would be releasing beta updates right now, not waiting for 2-3 weeks of doing nothing until we decide to get back around to releasing software again…

They can modify an existing public seed for that, not hold back a new beta cycle. The only thing that was rushed was iOS 17.4 with iPadOS 17.4 a forced rider. All the other OS's went their separate route. Then we have all the fluff with other OS issues afterwards, most nothing to do with 17.4 that much.

To be honest, the fact that we had this blank window could be a sign they are ahead of schedule. Alternately they were forced to be ahead of schedule due to the EU requirements.

I don’t understand the point you’re trying to make.

I guess my point was that Apple may not be able to move the software releases forward to fill the hole left by the accelerated 17.4 release because of the pending iPad release which may have a more rigid release window. So -- yes agreed.

I am saying the reason for no update either public or beta could be a sign that they are ahead of schedule for the release cycles.
Ok, but why would that mean they couldn’t continue to put out new betas? That would just give us more time to beta test iOS 17.5, and make it a more stable release.

I really hope we get something tomorrow, this is just getting ridiculous. We’re wasting weeks that could be used to make iOS 17.5 that much better. JUST. DROP. THE. BETA. ALREADY.

I dare say a lot of us would be somewhat happy with everything but iOS 17.5. If they want to overcook that so be it, most of us just want to be served, not go hungry. :D

I don't see the pressing need for 17.4.1 by everyone. 17.4 is just fine and everyone freaking out are creating bugs in their head that don't exist. It's a small vocal minority that are always complaining

MR should change their article from imminent to "OK we don't know when the hell it's gonna be released. We just want ya'll to feel excited"
The whole reason that article was even created was because the twitter account Fame G Monster posted the build on monday afternoon. When that happened they decided that meant it was coming in the next couple of days, that is their only rhyme or reason.
