But, 17.6 was just released. I’m a bit confused, unless this is a parallel build. I mean they’ve had a month to test 17.6 and after a week they are preparing another security update?
I think pushing out the public release of 17.6 are going to give a lot more input than a few beta testers, might be small corrections after feedback from the mass-release. could also be a case that they were working in 17.6.1 when 17.6 was released but it needed more testing.
Could also be a newfound vulnerability that needs to be patched quickly.

Glad they are patching things if needed rather than them sitting on their hands like it used to be.

Edit:
Was just looking into the latest info regarding Androids 2024-08-05 update I would say that Apple might be affected to and want to push out updates. Looking at the number of updates Qualcomm has in this release I'd say its a chance Apple is affected too.

17.6.1 out. IMO this is the last update until IOS 18. May be siyanora to this thread
It’s August 7th… iOS 18 will be out in more than a month… like 5 or 6 weeks away. Yeah, maybe this is the final iOS 17 release because there aren’t iOS 17 supported devices that don’t support iOS 18. But it wouldn’t surprise me if we have a 17.6.2 or even a 17.7 towards the end of August.

I think there will be a 17.7 but it will be released the same day as Ios 18 as an alternate option

Maybe an iOS 17.7 beta?! It would be released by the end of the month or beginning of September… and that could be the last major release of iOS 17, with eventual patches (17.7.1, 17.7.2… probably OTA only) for those who don’t update to iOS 18.
very possible

I’ve been taking a look at that webpage, and… I have the impression that there are a LOT of security vulnerabilities lately, aren’t there? Or maybe it’s the fact that companies are more invested in finding them and we wouldn’t know about them in the past (a more optimistic view).

Anyways, I’m already updating all my devices to 17.6.1. My iPad is installing it already (DFU mode), next up, my mom’s iPad 9th gen, and finally my iPhone SE 3rd gen.

17.6.2 apparently coming soon. We'll see last cycle they said we were getting 17.5.2 and never did
I do believe we’re getting 17.6.2 because that private account on formerlyknownastwitter has a good track record, is said. And I suspect it has something to do with people outside the EU being able to install Fortnite on their iPads.

JMO I think we should get Ios 17.6.2 the week after next week. It'd make more sense as it'd be the end of the month and be the last update until Ios 18. Only reason we'd get it this week is if there is something major that needs to be patched.

I believe we’re getting it next week. Just my intuition.
if it we get this week I believe that opens the door to another update before IOS 18, I'd really like to say this is the last but with how frequently we are getting updates I wouldn't be surprised

When we hear about new updates coming from this X source, they tend to be within a few days/a week max.
except with the 17.5.2 that mysteriously got pulled. 1 month is all we have until ios 18. I tend to think if 17.6.2 doesn't roll out by wednesday it'll most likely get pulled as well

everyones saying it's a 17.6.2 day but I'd be shocked if we got it that fast after just learning of it. 17.6.1 came on a wednesday, I think we'll see something more similar

there are many people complaining about the battery, mine (15 plus) for example is horrible compared to iOS 17.5…

if this is indeed a problem with iOS, maybe they will release a new version earlier

I'll be honest I don't think the battery life is why they are releasing it which is why I don't think they are rushing it. It sounds like some issues with fortnight were the main reason.

wonder if the ios 17.6.1 re-release is what the leaker saw apple doing and there will be no Ios 17.6.2. Sounds like none of us can get it over the air only via ipsw
