Based on iOS 3-16, beta 2 lasts:

  • Median: 15 days
  • Average: 16 days
iOS 17 beta 2 was released Wednesday, June 21st. So, most likely release days are either Thursday, July 6th or Friday, July 7th. Considering Apple usually doesn’t release software on Fridays, I’d bet on Thursday, July 6th or Wednesday, July 5th. Though, with the 4th of July holiday, Thursday seems more likely to me, and it also makes Friday more likely I’d think.

At any rate, I think it's fair to say that we're still on our twice a week scheduling and that Beta 3 will drop next week, most likely Wednesday or Thursday. There's also been plenty of times we've seen a beta release on a Friday, but considering the circumstances, I'd say Wednesday is a safe bet.

Before the release of the previous beta 2 there was some leaker I can't remember the name stating it would be released the next day (it was actually released on the same day he made that statement).

As far as I know these guys have been quiet regarding new betas release date so today (Friday) wont be for sure.

The one bug that I’ve run into on iPadOS 17 is the HDR bug. I hope the next beta fixes that, I’m sure it probably will. I’m also interested in seeing if they make any new tweaks to the Settings app and Files app! 👍🏻

Blah blah blah 😆😂

What ever, when ever, it’s all about B3 next week.

🔥🔥🔥🔥 Can. Not. Wait!!!!

Pretty excited.
Yeah we'll be pretty excited to see if some of the things that cropped up with beta 2 are better with Thursdays July 6th beta 3. Public beta for those patiently waiting would likely happen Monday the 10th. Between both of those two seeds should make the MacRumors forums a bit lively. ;)

Dev Beta 3 is usually the make or break it period, too! Most of the UI starts to get locked in place, and hopefully MORE new bugs don't replace the current bugs.. Live Voicemail, .png issues, and keyboard issues oh my! 🦁🐯🐻

I thought the first public beta was typically a full week or a week and a day after the last developer beta?

DEV beta 3 -- July 5
Public Beta 1 (or 3 for the sticklers) -- July 13.

Last year it was July 6th. (dev beta 3), that was a Wednesday following the 4th that on Monday. With the following Monday the 11th was when PB was released.
This year we have this 2 day delay after a holiday shifted a day later in the week because the 4th occurs on a Tuesday. The following Monday is the 10th now.

I'd put my money on the lot of us being disappointed in nothing Wednesday, followed by Dev beta 3 on Thursday. I'd say PB1 comes along with Dev beta 4 around the 18th-19th.

So more speculative against whether beta 3 or beta 4 becomes the PB1? Time will tell. But we do have accurate projections depending how it happens if either its beta 3 or beta 4 based PB. ;)

If they follow the regular schedule then the iPhone announcement will be on the Tuesday of that week. And the first day to preorder one will be on that Friday. IOS 17 will come out the next Tuesday with the iPhone available on Friday.

No beta release the day after a holiday regardless of the day of the week. It’s like people getting wasted on a Saturday but taking it easy on a Sunday to be ready for work on Monday.
There’s always a day in between.

iOS 16 beta 3 dropped July 6th. So @OhMyMy is correct.

15.6 beta 4 dropped last July 5th.

There is nothing special about the day after a holiday. There have been others, here’s a couple more:

15.4 Beta 4 released February 22 2022, the day after Presidents Day

12.1.3 Released January 22 2019 the day after MLK day.

Could be these days aren’t observed by Apple, but it shows that it can’t just be said Apple doesn’t release after a holiday

It's a rarity. There were handful or less instances where Apple released a beta right after a holiday at least in the last 5-6 years. Now I can't speak for why Apple takes an extra day off even though they're usually 2 weeks ahead in a beta cycle but it's likely that we'd be seeing a beta on 6th instead of the 5th. But then again Apple's beta release had been out of whack the last couple years so never say never.
We could be seeing a 16.6 beta on the 5th or 6th and then 17 b3 a day after or the week after.
