I’d say they’re highly likely to do the public beta next week, to allow for any issues from the DB. Sure that’s how it was last couple years?

Tim Apple won't be pressing The Big Red Beta Launch Button today
as he is already late for Elon Tesla's Freedom BBQ Brunch.
You probably don't know Tim Cook personally so why do people assume they do think Tim won't release beta 3 today

The dude posted a joke, it wasn’t a serious post, of course he doesn’t know Tim personally. Also, Tim doesn’t actually control the releasing personally.

Good morning! Happy 4th of July!

It’s Tuesday! Today would have been perfect for the beta to be released but it’s a holiday. So I get it. Still have a feeling Thursday, we will see beta being dropped.

I hope everyone enjoys the 4th of July. Stay safe! 🧨

My guess is iOS 16.6 beta for all (dev & public) on Wednesday, then iOS 17 DB3 on Thursday. Then iOS 17 PB1=DB3 either on Friday or next week.

Public beta will come out the week after the DB for the first couple of releases, based on the previous years.

I’m Sticking with DB3 Thursday. 16.6 could be tomorrow or Friday.

While Thursday 6th will likely see iOS/iPadOS 17 beta 3, this week would still be a partial work week again vetting 16.6 for a RC, so I don't think that will show. Yes most people make this an extended weekend this week in Cupertino because of July 4th falling on a Tuesday this year. I seen people really locally relaxing after the heat wave of this past weekend, and not out and about in their cars except to the coast to enjoy the nice weather and beaches. It's more likely the first PB of iOS 17 will come early next week along with mid next week the 16.6 RC.

Eh, 17 beta 3 will have been completed days ago, the holiday will have no baring on its release, honestly sounds like people think a release is worked on then released the next day, beta 3 will have been locked down for a while.
Still needs someone in the office to flip that switch 😆

While the Darwin kernel is usually about a week old when it finally gets released as part of a beta seed build, it doesn't mean that build has been completed in a technical sense. Betas are still considered unstable meaning that the build at that time can still see software changes performed on them until whatever build later on is chosen to seed. Yes there can be last day security changes if warranted. You seen this with the last beta 2 that was released in the afternoon not at 10 am PST.

Anything could go wrong with a major iOS version when it’s released to the masses with dramatically different configs as opposed to a team of 100 devs.
Just cuz it’s done a few days ago doesn’t mean it’s on a timer like a scheduled message. There’s always last minute testing to make sure nothing major pops up before being released.

So you’re ignoring all the previous years where there’s been a public holiday that has meant a beta has come out later in the week?
