We could be seeing a 16.6 beta on the 5th or 6th and then 17 b3 a day after or the week after.
I agree, people tend to forget about 16.6 betas going on simultaneously.
I guess it will be just a day difference between iOS 16 and iOS 17 betas, though.

Who's forgetting, we are just not posting about iOS 16.6 speculation in the iOS 17 speculation thread. You would think that be self evident.I agree, people tend to forget about 16.6 betas going on simultaneously.

It's a rarity. There were handful or less instances where Apple released a beta right after a holiday at least in the last 5-6 years. Now I can't speak for why Apple takes an extra day off even though they're usually 2 weeks ahead in a beta cycle but it's likely that we'd be seeing a beta on 6th instead of the 5th. But then again Apple's beta release had been out of whack the last couple years so never say never.

So many betas/holidays in the last 4 years and you could only find a handful of instances which are more like anomalies than a pattern. It’s not though. I posted 3 examples from the last 4 years alone and I found at least 2 more which I didn’t bother to mention because I thought the evidence presented would suffice. Given the ever increasing number of point releases for each iteration of iOS it’s statistically likely to become even more common in the future.
You spoke in absolute terms. You said there’s always a day in between a holiday and a release which clearly isn’t true. All I’m suggesting is that having an less rigid world view might be more beneficial when discussing a subject for which none of us can truly know the answer![]()

I go with the odds and it’s a speculation thread and I’m speculating. It’s not the end of the world if I miss.

I disagree but congratulations. You simultaneously missed and made my point.![]()
So there are more features coming for iOS 17 not yet announced. I think its reasonably safe to say this years iOS 17 evolution will have many beta cycle increments. Now, Apple is preparing to give the earbuds a fresh boost. It’s exploring major new hearing health and body-temperature features, and is planning cheaper models and a transition to USB-C charging ports. The product also will have ties to the Vision Pro headset due next year. The capabilities will come in addition to already-announced software features that were part of iOS 17, as well as plans for new AirPods Pro and Max model
15.6 beta 4 dropped last July 5th.

Could be these days aren’t observed by Apple, but it shows that it can’t just be said Apple doesn’t release after a holiday
I agree. iOS 16 beta 3 dropped July 6th. Possibly a pattern for this year. 😁I still feel like others highest probability is Thursday the 6th. A lot of employees are likely got Monday off for a long weekend after the heat we had. The 5th there is a slight chance but less likely. Either way beta 3 is coming this week.
July 6, 2022 was a Wednesday after the holiday was a Monday. I'm still going with Wednesday this year, too.I agree. iOS 16 beta 3 dropped July 6th. Possibly a pattern for this year. 😁
Slim to none that it’ll be today.I’m going to postulate that there is even a 10-20% chance we see the next beta today. The little zero day thing with the X.x.1 releases a few weeks ago probably set Apple back by a day or so. And with the 4th falling on a Tuesday, that causes them to lose yet another day this week (at a minimum).
Good morning my dear friend. I hope you are right, but I also hope that our family at Apple is being given an important time off with the holiday in this week. If I don’t get to tell you, I hope that you have a great 4th🇺🇸Good morning!
Happy Pre-4th of July. I don't think we are getting anything today.
I'm going to raise the stakes! I have a feeling we are getting iOS 17 Beta 3 on Thursday - 90% sure. Learning towards Wednesday only 10%. Regardless of the outcome, we are getting a new beta. I hope everyone is going to have a great week. Let's get it! 🔥
I’m having the same issue with the beta togglesIs it just me, or has the beta option tab disappeared from the Software Update page for both iOS and watchOS?
