It was also a minor security revision, not like WebKit, or Darwin kernel saw any changes. What did it fix that effects/delays a OS that won’t ship for months? As you said Watch OS is ready for DB4.

You are assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that the revision has anything to do with the timing of beta 4. It might simply be that Apple allows 3, rather than 2, weeks between betas 3 and 4.

It's 10:00 AM in Cupertino, California. Let's see if we get rewarded today!

Yeah, timing on the beta 3 –> 4 transition is a bit up in the air — last year's 3 week cycle seems to have been an anomaly, as 15.0b3, 14.0b3, and 13.0b3 only went 2 weeks before their respective beta 4.

ADDENDUM: That doesn't necessarily mean exactly two weeks — 15.0b3 and 14.0b3 had a 13-day gap before their next betas, while 13.0b3 was out for 15 days. With today's 16.6 RC, 17.0b4 is likely to drop tomorrow (but I wouldn't place any particularly large bets on that).

Why are people responding like multiple OS updates haven’t come out on the same day?

Even this beta cycle we had a 16.6 beta drop at 10a/1p and then 17 beta 2 at 1p/4p.

1p PT is still a super common time for beta update drops. It’s likely going to be then, but obviously we’ll see. Anything can happen at the end of the day.

It was the same situation as with this beta 3: they re-released beta 3 as the public beta, which restarted the 2 week cycle causing a 3 week cycle for beta 3. Seems to be the new trend which actually makes sense… they can soak in more feedback before they start locking things down with B4 onwards.

Anyone hoping for B4 this week is setting themselves up for disappointment.

How can speculation concerning this week be disappointing. Most would rather see fixes for bugs/new features improved with a DB4 ignoring the 2nd DB3 that is not much of anything.

If DB4 is delayed to next week well that is only wasting time reviewing something that most here have been using for almost 2 weeks already. ;)

3 and 1/2 days to go of this week still.

Except he’s right. There are so many people within this forum that desperately cling onto every single release as though their life depends on it. It really is, in my opinion anyway, utterly pathetic.

Anyway, I speculate tomorrow. I need it, I need an update like yesterday, bring it bring it bring it it's the most important thing on the whole planet!

I would not say that 1pm PT is “super common”. It happens but pretty infrequently. Maybe 20% of the time.

I‘d love a new beta this week, but I keep my expectations in check considering last years similar schedule.

Hope Apple proves me wrong.
