Apple continuing to throw the curveballs!
Yep

Apple today provided the second beta of the upcoming macOS Sonoma update to its public beta testing group, allowing non-developers to test the new operating system ahead of its fall launch. The new beta comes a little over two weeks after Apple released the first betaIn addition to the new public beta, Apple has also released a revised version of the fourth developer beta, presumably to address issues that were resulting in installation problems for some users following last week's

Apple today seeded the second betas of iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 to public beta testers, allowing non-developers to test the software ahead of its launch. The second beta comes a little over two weeks after the first beta. The second public beta features the same content that's in the fourth developer beta released last week,
although Apple has also seeded a revised version of that developer beta today.developer release.

I am just happy some of the bugginess is addressed. Some of the bugs took a long time of usage to show. Something most might not do on a iPhone normally.

These re-releases are confusing and they tend to consume more of my internet data. 🙈

No watchOS either
The revision isn't obvious, same Safari, System FW and Darwin Kernel as DB4 original. Likely to be the same iOS as they all follow closely together. (Safari, Darwin).

If I had to guess it was some issue with those security changes from DB3 revision with PB and now we just had a 2nd revision this time with DB4 with PB again? Unless the package was "eh".

Everything seems to be running great here. I haven’t swapped back to a more complicated wallpaper as I’ve really come to like the solid color. Swiping home and back into apps seems to be jitter free in any case.

I’ll test and report if the issue presents again.

DB4 came out last Tuesday the 25th. see here
The fact that a PB didn't occur in the first couple of day after DB4 released coupled with all the wonky MacOS DB4 installs sorta says Apple is aware of some security issues you could manually accept. Example the transition from Safari 17 showing some issues with displaying MacRumors web pages like they had some security issues (DB2/DB3), to now it doesn't do that but the app quits sometimes shows that the transition of DB3 to DB4 entailed a lot of changes. Hoping for a DB5 to further improve OS behavior.

I clearly made a typo, and meant DB5 as DB4 was already out.

This was a huge gripe of mine for many many years. How hard is it to add a seperate volume control for alarms. It's asinine that the volume of your alarm is dependent on system volume, you have to remember to adjust your ringer accordingly every night.

Finally I just gave up and now I use my watch as an alarm. Its great, with the Ultra the vibration on my wrist is strong enough to wake me up but not jarring. Also perfect for not waking up my wife next to me on days that I get up before her.
I thought about that but I can't justify spending that much money on an alarm. I managed to control my OCD but food, shower and my bedroom (including my wardrobe) have to be super clean. That would mean that the watch would never leave my bedroom... If I liked wearing watches maybe I could convince myself to have a sleep dedicated one but I never wear them. Thanks for the tip though. I thought about it for some time but then I realized it's not for me.

So no Dev Beta 5 today? I thought after Dev Beta 4, we are on weekly schedule !

The first thing Apple breaks with newer beta is the damn 120hz refresh rate. Stutters galore on 14 Pro Max.

I don't know where that assumption comes from, but for the last TEN major releases (with just one exception that was iOS 10.0) it has been dev beta 5 from where the weekly builds started.

Just look here and set the filter to ".0"-releases: https://www.thinkybits.com/blog/iOS-versions/?ref=blog.emojipedia.org
