MacOS releases later, late October based on last year. So, RC probably not until first or second week of October.

I think it will still be 2 weeks between betas, so maybe no new beta for MacOS until next week, as last one came last week.

Edit: looking at last year, didn’t go weekly until after beta 8 which came out 20th September, with Beta 9 on 27th September, with Beta 11 being the last one before RC.

Wow so quite a way to go then.

Man it’s performing well for a beta 7.

We’ve seen Shazam have new animation for Dynamic Island, but that’s about it, I think. So, not a lot.

They’re not adding any more in to iOS 17 other than what we’ve seen in the betas so far.

You need to asterisk that statement for whatever features come on the new phones. At this time in the iOS 16 beta last year, “Dynamic Island” wasn’t even a thing.

Well they released tvOS 17 beta 9 (21J5354a) - September 5, 2023
We’re in the iOS thread, talking about iOS 17. Not tvOS. iOS is different, as there’s new iPhones tied to its release. tvOS is not reliant on new hardware.

So many app updates (at least for me) today. Must mean RC is imminent.
RC comes after the event, with the exception of Covid year. Therefore chances of it coming out before it would be extremely abnormal and unlikely. I like the optimism though.

Very true, I should have been clear I was meaning for the iPhone 14.

That pertained to anything being seeded today or this week that was allowed a beta 9 speculation. Usually iOS/iPadOS/tvOS seeds are group released together. Now that has happened maybe tomorrow we see a a beta 9 of iOS/iPadOS.

No. No it doesn’t. Devs don’t yet have the RC version of Xcode which they will need to finalize their apps.

Normally it would mean it’s a Monday. But today is the functional equivalent of Monday because of the holiday.

Don’t bet the farm on that.

Not sure it's related, as Apple has not opened App Store submissions for iOS 17 SDK... there's another barrage of app updates coming early next week.

FWIW, I had 16 today and nary one mentioned iOS 17... so, no, not yet.

There are some apps that will be seeing support for the island soon. DoorDash, google maps, etc.
That’s nothing to so with iOS 17 though. That’s on the developers and iOS 17 isn’t going to change that, as they can support it on iOS 16.

Actually we’ve seen extra as well as less tvOS betas for an x.0 release a few times in the past. Yes, they’re usually linked, but not always.

It would be extremely abnormal & unusual for iOS to get another beta now, as it’s not the norm, especially since the build from beta 8 (or a couple builds higher) were loaded on the new phones already.

I’m confident enough (99% sure) that we won’t get a new iOS beta (iPadOS is excluded from this statement).

Additionally, beta 8 is extremely stable for the majority, with adds to my confidence.

Now, the real question is will we get 2 RCs this year?

You probably saw this posted this late Tuesday.

As you can see the rumor mill just threw in an another curve ball to speculate about, after the iPhone event, overnight store updates . . . go figure?

You're living in the past because the beta was weekly when iOS 17 beta 5 came out. So your wrong
I believe he was talking about macOS Sonoma betas, which are on a different schedule compared to iOS.

Sonoma didn't go weekly after beta 5. Beta 5 came out on August 8th, beta 6 on August 22nd. However, beta 7 came on the 30 of August, so we might get a new beta for Sonoma this week.
