Odd. Won’t show up on either of mine. Sending email. Reading email. Doing Chat or other items in Teams.
All I see or get are the stock MS functions. Though CoPilot is greyed out.

Going to have to play around with it and see what I can find.

Did an AppInt off hard reboot on hard reboot then ended up ipsw this morning. I can now see it on my 15PM. Will likely have to do it on the iPad also. Did a quick check in Outlook on a couple of emails for Summary - gonna need to play with this as Summary is not good at this stage.

Thanks @gwhizkids for the follow-ups as it helped solve an issue. I can now see it pretty most places I can select text.

UPDATE: Once I fixed the 15PM, it also showed up on my iPad Pro 11. No reboots, no ipsw. Wonder how much they are interlinked.

Interesting that’s what it took to get it. I guess this is all part of the beta.

I installed the 18.1 beta but only really started using the AI writing tools yesterday. I do like how it will point out emails it thinks may be important and has done a pretty good job of it. I’ve found the email summaries to be pretty good but the text message / iCloud message summaries lacking. I haven’t found the “smart” responses to text messages to be much improved at this point but I do expect that to change and get better over time.

As for the AI writing tools I think they do a great job of proof-reading and a pretty good job of rewriting things based on the style you choose (friendly, concise, etc) so those appear to be off to a good enough start with this being beta 1 but there’s still plenty of room there for improvement.

I love how Apple is collecting user feedback in terms of how well you think it’s AI tools are functioning and I hope all testers are taking the time to offer constructive feedback including submitting some of the original content being used for these because if users do that and Apple is using that to improve these features in the way they say they are then we should see things greatly improve over time. Garbage in, garbage out in this case when it comes to user feedback.

Glad you were able to get this working.

Interesting about the other devices. But that is somewhat consistent with the initial set up: once you turned it on on one device, it was available on all devices with 18.1 installed.

And your are correct that the summary feature still has some work ahead of it.

Without trawling through the thread, when are we expecting the next Beta to release? Will it be following the same release schedule as 18.0 Beta?

Is it me, or are people becoming incredibly lazy? You want things summarized so you don't have to read. You want the computer to write things for you.

Come on, folks, reading and writing are basic human skills. We shouldn't be passing this stuff off to AI. It's going to make communications even more impersonal and robotic than they already are.
You're giving off big "back in my day we used to walk barefoot 10 miles to school, these kids nowadays have it easy" vibes. AI is the future, the world is changing and the means of communicating are going to look vastly different in a few years... You may not like it, just like our grandparents didn't like the changes we have today.. But it is what it is moving forward. innovation doesn't stop because a few old men yell at clouds.

Unfortunately we are seeing more of this these days. The “Why read the book when we have Cliff Notes?” mentality abounds. Now with AI it changes again. Is it better? Time will tell.

FYI, the 18.1 beta 1 IPSW downloads have been removed from the developer portal — no idea what that implies, but the beta is still showing up OTA on my 15 Pro Max running 18.0 beta 4 (along with 18.0 beta 5, which I will be updating to shortly).

I’m still thinking 2 weeks for this. Happy to be proved wrong when it’s out in 10 minutes.

Just been offered 18.1 here in the UK, not pressed the button to install it... }

I would not hop on this if you aren't adamant about trying out the AI features.

It's evident that 18.1 lags 1 week behind 18.0 Betas at the moment (so 18.1 B2 probably next week).
I am not that bothered about the AI features, so am going to be sticking with 18 :)
