iOS 18.1 Beta 6 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Ok, a full wipe later and a fresh download of Beta 6 seems to have done the trick apart from one little stutter!

When I open settings my name and Apple ID picture, along with the first three lines of the menu below - 'Airplane mode' 'WiFi', and 'Bluetooth' take a split second behind the rest of the menu to load.

My wife has the regular 16 and her does exactly the same, so I'm guessing it just needs sorting out when B7 or the RC rolls out.

Scanning through the comments it seems that some folk have CarPlay issues whilst others don’t. Is the missing emoji/stickers issue in the picker/keyboard present for everyone or is that just for some people? Thanks.

No CarPlay issues here and all emoji/stickers are present and accounted for!

For any of you running this beta who have smart locks… Are you getting notifications on your phone/watch when they either lock or unlock? I’m not, but they do appear on the Apple TV. My locks are NUKI.

The same Apple TV is the main home hub also running the latest developer beta software.

I have Nuki and get notifications from Home on phone, watch and ATV and turned off notifications from the Nuki app as I was getting both.
Just turned back on for Nuki app and can confirm I get notifications from both.

Interesting thanks. I was playing around with it again last night, swapping home hubs etc and would occasionally get a Home notification for one of my SmartLocks (v3) but still none for my v4. The Nuki ones work perfectly.

But today, back to none at all.

I would imagine, but never sure. Does it have a hub that needs restarting? Restart home hub. Check for any firmware updates for NUKI. Hope something works for ya.

Yeps done all that but to no avail. I might raise it with NUKI too.

Yes I had the same issue. Rebooted and swiped right to left to change Home Screen and it started working again.

There's also a delay right at the bottom, when you want to click on "Apps", that the Wallet & Apple Pay item takes a while to appear.

So on my wife’s iMessage it shows me as having notifications silenced after this update even though I don’t have the phone on silent. Tried restarting, toggle on / off and it still shows silenced. 16 Pro Max I’m running.

Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Focus > Toggle Messages Off

Anyone notice the first home screen (formerly the Today Widget screen) is now blurred? It wasn't blurred before. But not sure when it was changed. Odd Apple did that.

Sometimes my display won’t respond to touch at the middle of the display. Before 18.1 beta 6 I didn’t had this issue.

Yes I had the same issue. Rebooted and swiped right to left to change Home Screen and it started working again.

It worked for like 5 minutes now it is back to not showing again. PITA as I reply on it to open most apps

On my iPhone 15, I think I'm feeling it get warm multiple times a day--something I've never had before. It doesn't bother me, but I notice it.

Anyone else getting the bug where your recovery contact shows as “no longer active” and generating the recovery codes will only let the notification go away for a day before it says you are required to set a recovery method? Only started to happen on this build, so something isn’t syncing right.

15PM here and all is normal except on wireless CarPlay while charging it gets warm. However in wired CarPlay all works well and no heating.

I was under the impression that everyone was losing emojis in the picker but I’m much more keen to download the beta is it’s more sporadic. Thanks, that’s good news 😊

So happy to read that!! This has been driving me nuts! I'm still contemplating whether I should install the beta or wait. How's your experience so far in terms of stability and performance?

I think you should go for it!! The beta has also fixed my ‘hey siri’ which was entirely broken on 18.0.1. I had one crash, it came back up within a couple seconds. My first iOS crash in years, nothing I’m too worried about.

Installed on a 16 Pro Max. No bugs visible yet but I’ll report back. No stuttering - the animation is smooth as butter. All the emojis are present in the emoji picker too.

I think my CarPlay problem is a result of the voice control accessibility setting. Turned that off and no crashes or disconnects in two days.

Just had my first spring board crash on beta 6. On beta 5 it was crashing many times a day so beta 6 is much better, but still annoying to have the spring board crash. Anyone else having it crash on beta 6?

I have charging limit set to 80%. The last 2 times I’ve charged my phone it’s charged to 100%. I know it will occasionally charge to 100% even with the limit but I don’t recall it ever happening on back to back charge cycles.

This happened to me today, too. Even after a restart it would charge beyond the limit so I suspect this could be a bug.

iPhone 15PM I noticed a significant heat on the backside next to the camera when I using the music or classic app. I tested other apps including the podcast app but no increasing heat. Changing the music quality doesn’t matter. Only to download before let the iPhone cold.
