iOS 18.1 Beta 6 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

After 2 days the stutters are as bad as 18.0.1 on my 16 pro.

This is odd. I'm on a 16 Pro on 18.0.1 and have yet to notice a single stutter. There is more to this than just the OS it seems. May be something you have installed or you need to reinstall the OS. Only reasons I can see for it not presenting on the same phone which I have.

For any of you running this beta who have smart locks… Are you getting notifications on your phone/watch when they either lock or unlock? I’m not, but they do appear on the Apple TV. My locks are NUKI.

The same Apple TV is the main home hub also running the latest developer beta software.

I’ve got an August. Other than having to remove the lock from Home and re-adding it early on in the 18.0 beta cycle, it’s been working fine since. Notifications showing on phone and watch.

I have a Schlage Encode Plus and get them on my iPhone, iPad, Watch and Mac when no one is home (that's how I set my setting for these notifications). I disabled notifications on my ATV and my ATV is my main hub. All devices are on the latest betas.

If you're not getting them, I would try to setup the notifications again in the Home app even though it may display what you want.

Anyone experiencing battery drain with Wireless Carplay

Currently both iOS 18.0 / 18.01 has battery drain when connected Wirelessly

We are traveling but I had to use my daughter’s Audi Q5 and wireless CarPlay on B6…
Drove for 30 minutes and left on the QI charging pad while connected to CarPlay…lost 1% battery life while playing and charging. Phone was very warm when I arrived at my location. I would say “yes” there’s enough battery drain that it won’t even charge while playing.

Edit—-I driver car today for 30 minutes one direction . I used the QI charger and actually lost battery but I didn’t connect to CarPlay . However, I took my phone off the charger but connected to CarPlay and didn’t lose any battery life…started at 84% and ended up 30 minutes later at 84%.

Ny 16Pro is loving this build. Man it’s quick. Super smooth.

WhatsApp has a few jitters when scrolling. Looking forward to that being fixed. But I will offload it and reinstall see if that helps.

Anyone have CarPlay Map issues with this Beta? Haven't had any issues until this update applied. Reported it via the Apple Feedback assistant. But when navigating with Maps now I only get the route overview screen and no longer have the more detailed street view with turns and such. The Text window shows the turn by turn steps but the screen never changes.
Tested it with my work iPhone (running 18.01) and it works like it should.
Attaching a screen show from my CarPlay drive yesterday.
Anyone else seeing this?

You'll have to re-center the view.

No issues here. I run the Aqara smart lock. Get notifications from both Aqara and Home.

Go into Home and look under the Security tab. See if you have any Activity History with the locking and unlocking there.

I don't think I've found anything to complain about on this build Smooth running. WiFi/Cellular connectivity is finally working correctly. Battery is good. Loving this one.

I would imagine, but never sure. Does it have a hub that needs restarting? Restart home hub. Check for any firmware updates for NUKI. Hope something works for ya.

Battery super good, only problem touch issues, i have from stutters when scrolling or opening apps to not registering input when touching the screen

16 Pro Max here. This build has been great other than when you open a text thread and Apple intelligence gives you a recommendation on what to type that kinda flashes and you see a little white behind it. Just a visual glitch but nothing serious. Few hang ups here and there but overall been a good experience. Excited to see either another beta or RC next week and final on “perhaps” the 28th!

I was driving and sending text messages via CarPlay. Interestingly, when Siri had less confidence in my words, I was given the option to either send or change the message after I finished speaking. I don’t recall ever receiving this option before. On a subsequent, shorter message where Siri was confident in my words, it simply sent the message without offering me either option.

New/old Airplay 2 issue.

I have a Yamaha 7.1 AV system with Airplay 2. In late iOS 18.0 betas an issue was introduced where playing a playlist in Apple Music.app, sometimes when a new song comes, now sound is there, even though the iPhone or iPad thinks it’s playing. The scrubber keeps moving. If you hit the back button to go back to the beginning it plays. If you wait for the song to end, the next one in the playlist plays.

iOS/ iPadOS 18.1 beta 4 & 5 didn’t have this issue, but b6 reverted to the bug. Makes sense since there were other 18.0 bugs that were fixed that look like they were merged into the 18.1 branch.

So playing playlists is now buggy again.

I got the Hello Screen, a "your phone has been updated" screen, stolen protection option screen, and then a "welcome to iphone" screen once the phone turned on after install. seems like this might be close to release build.

One absolutely minor thing that bothers me slightly in the latest beta:
When you activate several focus modes in the control center, all of them having nice little animations, except the one for „Work“, the one with the little business bag 🙃

Scanning through the comments it seems that some folk have CarPlay issues whilst others don’t. Is the missing emoji/stickers issue in the picker/keyboard present for everyone or is that just for some people? Thanks.
