Anyone else experiencing push notification issues in 18.1? I seem to be having a couple...
  • Notifications are coming in slower. For example, when I request a 2FA approval from a site, it takes 5-10 seconds before that notification appears on my phone. They used to show up right away. It's not an app issue because it's occurring with several different ones. Also, the 2FA prompt shows right away inside the app if I already have it open.
  • Mirrored notifications are not playing any sound on my Mac despite the settings saying they should be.

This bug of a misaligned music player on Lock Screen now happens 5 out of 10 times I play any content. Very annoying.

No, I had no idea that was a thing! I wonder if we both had the same thought process coming up with the name. Thunderbolt...Lightning...iCloud...iStorm

The slow/delayed notifications is also happening in macOS 15.1 too. I'll get a Teams alert inside my work VDI/desktop, and then it'll show several seconds later on my Mac. They used to pop up/ding at the same time and wasn't annoying.

Not to drag this topic out yet again, but personally I don’t see this as the solution. It’s a bandaid. The solution would be Apple actually fixing their software. Or pulling it and issuing a warning not to use it if it’s already been downloaded. So far it just seems like everyone is willing to sweep this whole thing under the rug. And if you happen to be the one whose phone gets screwed up because you used the official Apple thing that was offered as a valid option with no indicator that you shouldn’t do that? Sucks to be you!
This is a very bad state of affairs for ANY tech company, let alone one as big as Apple. The community should not be looking the other way.

Just to be clear, updating via IPSW in what software? Because someone upthread mentioned that Apple Devices did still brick their iPhone, and a few people chimed in that iTunes works fine.

Anyone else having mail problems with the default mail app? It’s weird. I don’t get certain emails unless I open the Gmail app. It’s driving me crazy. Unless I’m missing something.

This issue was occurring before I even turned Apple Intelligence on. Apple Intelligence is on now, but notification summaries are turned off.
Yep. Specifically for me it’s HomeKit notifications for my door cameras. The notification will take up to 25 secs to arrive yet my partners phone on iOS 18 will receive it virtually instantly.

No one is sweeping this under the rug. A problem was presented and a viable option was given. Do you think people whose iPhones are allegedly ‘bricked’ will want to wait until option 1 works as it should or do you think they’ll use option 2 to get them back up and running as quickly as possible?

I always reboot the phone several times after an update. This has always sorted any heat issues!
I’veI’ve rebooted my phone multiple times, but it still feels off. It’s always warm, and when I perform demanding tasks, it becomes laggy, almost as if it’s being throttled. I hope the second RC2 is released soon. I would expect background processing to be completed by now.

I wouldn’t hold your breath for a second RC, especially considering tomorrow is Friday and this thing is going out to the public on Monday…

There’s a small chance that the second RC2 could be released either tomorrow or on the release day, as happened before, but yes, the chances are slim.

Do you expect a RC2, like what’s happened today with macOS 15.1?

I hope but I don`t think so. If we are lucky maybe we get a revised build at lunch and I am praying that they resolve the Sticker Bug. This annoys me so bad. I don`t want to downgrade to iOS 18.0.1 because the Battery is so much better on 18.1 for my 16PM.

I asked because build number of macOS 15.1 RC2 is 24B86, and the build number of macOS 15.1 RC1 was 24B82.

Build number of iOS 18.1 RC is, precisely, 22B82. So maybe we’ll get to see a build 22B86?

They don’t have to be exactly the same. There won’t be an update unless the exploit affects iOS as well. It has to pass the severity threshold.

I guess this is related to Apple Intelligence. I just turned it off on my phone and now the notifications come through instantly. The mirrored notifications also play sound on my Mac again.

Playing around with this some more, they also come in instantly (and play a sound on my Mac) if Apple Intelligence is on and Summarize Previews is turned on/enabled for that app (on my phone).

So it looks like notifications are laggy and mirrored notifications don't play a sound on the Mac if you're using Apple Intelligence and have Summarize Previews turned off or disabled for that app (on your phone).
