Has anyone who has been on the image creation waiting list actually been taken off yet?

My prediction on the response:

First time ever for me on a beta that an Alarm clock didn’t work. More specifically it was showing on the iPhone display but not emitting any audio. I had chosen my own sound file. Done a retest again and it worked with same sound file. My fault relying on it on a beta.

Also not sure if related or not, messaging tones in telegram or WhatsApp sometimes cut off halfway .

My email is totally messed up. Deleted emails are returning, and others are disappearing. Also keep getting a blank screen when I open certain emails.

Is this the "new" Mail app?
Does it happen across all accounts?

Over the years I've had a nightmare relationship with Mail. The "official" Apple Community (forums) have whitewashed/deleted my posts on this topic, because... they're scumbags.

My solution (yours will vary, and this is a beta with a new-gen app, so...) - it could be as simple as just removing mail account > restarting > and re-adding mail account...

1. Delete/remove email accounts (Gmail, etc.)
2. Delete the whole Mail app (NOTE/WARNING - recovery requires reinstalling from the App store, and I'm unsure whether the 18.2 beta Mail app is IN the app store...)
3. Restart your phone (hard reset, vol up > vol down > power)
4. Reinstall Mail app from app store (I guess you could also do it from an iMazing backup, but this barfed on me when I had MDM on my phone last year - Aetna app corrupted my whole phone)
5. Turn on all mail accounts you might have not deleted (i.e. iCloud and/or corporate email), then add mail accounts which you did remove.

Thanks. Will give it a go when I have time.

I’m not sure why they would pull it but let others still access it. It might just be a very small pool of testers at the moment, to make sure there are no major oversights.
I’m pretty certain at this point they’re watching closely to see if someone manages to get something obscene around it or very copyright infringing before they let it past the initial batch. With most other image gens such images are headline news within a couple days of release. I’m doubtful anyone else will get it before Monday at this point.

Another reason I think the “delay” in moving people off the waiting list is planned vs some sort of glitch is that none of the big Apple tech news outlets have published any stories about the “delay”. That leads me to believe they were clued in by Apple that this was the plan. Notice, too, that they all have access to it.
Maybe, but that doesn’t make for a great beta testing if you ask me.

Possibly, and likely. But, someone will inevitably do it. We really shouldn’t care. The most important thing to me is that it’s likely impossible to make a deep fake since things aren’t photorealistic.

Other than a couple issues with mail, slow app opening, transitioning from screen to screen while on a call and the possible Find My issue, how's this for a daily driver?

95% of the post have been about waiting to get approved for Image Creation.
No game breakers for me yet

I thought I saw something about being able to set your default mail app, and default browser app, etc. Can someone point me to those settings? I looked but couldn't find them.

Go to Settings > Apps > Gmail (for example)

One of the options is "Default Mail App" (which you can select from valid mail apps)

Same idea w/ Chrome

Were you expecting 18.2 this week? Almost no one was. No harm to Apple if we’re not testing this feature. Plenty of other stuff to try out.

This. Plus the fact it’s a beta. I can’t count how many time a beta has a place holder for an upcoming feature. It’s not like this is a general release. Apple doesn’t owe anybody any promises and will make it available when they’re ready.

It’s a beta. Meant to be tested. If the plan was only to release to media, not a great test. That said. I don’t buy the “media and influencers only” argument. I think it is just a small initial pool and of course they mostly got it first because their incomes depend on it
