Another reason I think the “delay” in moving people off the waiting list is planned vs some sort of glitch is that none of the big Apple tech news outlets have published any stories about the “delay”. That leads me to believe they were clued in by Apple that this was the plan. Notice, too, that they all have access to it.
I believe it was planned also, I installed minutes after the IPSW dropped and still on the waiting list. I think there is a selected pool of folks that was granted access first, btw 18.2 has been brilliant on my 16PM. !!!

It’s a beta. Meant to be tested. If the plan was only to release to media, not a great test. That said. I don’t buy the “media and influencers only” argument. I think it is just a small initial pool and of course they mostly got it first because their incomes depend on it

The testing is what Apple says it is. Not what users want it to be.

So have solved my email problem. It was my outlook email address that was causing all of the problems. So have deleted the account and downloaded the outlook app.

All is good for now.

First time ever for me on a beta that an Alarm clock didn’t work. More specifically it was showing on the iPhone display but not emitting any audio. I had chosen my own sound file. Done a retest again and it worked with same sound file. My fault relying on it on a beta.

Also not sure if related or not, messaging tones in telegram or WhatsApp sometimes cut off halfway .
I had the same experience this morning. Almost didn’t get my daughter to school in time!

Does anyone in the UK have access to the new features yet?

If you do have access, have you configured your language choices to the US or UK English?

Does anyone in the US not have access?

That’s entirely fair. Really, I just wish I knew if it’s a small pool, a bug, or pulled. The not knowing is the part that bothers me.

On one level, me too. I want to play with this as much as anyone else. But I can accept that they have the waiting list and likely for a good reason.

We’ll get there. And I don’t think we’ll be having to wait until the second beta.

I ended up rolling back to 18.1 RC. Didn’t have a bad experience or any showstoppers but since I can’t use the image playground stuff after waiting since release there isn’t really an upside except for ChatGPT/Mail improvements. Mail improvements were buggy for me, not getting notifications for some despite having ‘All Messages’ selected. That coupled with the normal beta battery drain made it kind of meh for me.

Happy to be back on (almost) release software and my 16 pro max is flying! Also patting myself on the shoulder for my 18.1 backup 😎

Changed my default apps, Mail and Password&Codes.

Changed Mail to Proton Mail and it has been working as expected today. Nice!
Changed Password to Proton Pass and that is still not working correctly. If I turn Password back on, all works for both. If I turn Password off, Proton Pass misses some fill-in and new.

Still, a step in the right direction.

Anyone notice a different feel to CarPlay Maps when not navigating to a location. It seems to move around a lot more and fell more erratic like it's not "rubber banded" to the road. Just feels off to me but without 18.1 to compare it to I'm not sure what's different.
Navigation screen looks normal.

the apple mail app still doesn't have labels or colour or something for various mailboxes when in the all mailboxes view ?

i really wanted to apple mail again because of the ai stuff but different colour for each mailbox is such basic thing i've had for years on 3rd party mail apps that i don't want to live without.

Agreed. I haven't experienced any of the lag or stuttering yet.

Mark Gurman just posted this, so by Beta 2 most should start getting access
