The Mail app is cooked. Can’t delete the now overwhelming amount of Junk mail, the icons clutter the Inbox, the summaries are borderline useless - is Apple really going to nuke their clean cohesive ecosystem in order to chase the AI waterfall?

Is anyone else having Junk/Deleted folder issues?
Yep the biggest area of problems is with Gmail which has become my junk mail for subscribing to sitesi do not want to spam me and the junk mail box is like this have to manually delete one at a time, and there are not 5 that will not deleted nasty spam mail messages I blocked them but am unable to delete them. There is some weirdness with the categories in iCloud mail and I had to do some settings in contacts for list server mail to make them mostly arrive in inbox not junk on iCloud. But this particular mail does not show on M4 iPad with 18.2 just on 15 ProMax with 18.2 so yeah mail is borked. I have mail on my MacBook with no betas and I can always look there. But I usually can find all the missing mail (on iphone or macbook) and i am retired so nothing time critical LOL

I think Mail is just completely broken on this first beta. Emails aren’t downloading or they do and then disappear. I can imagine beta 2 will fix a lot of Mail bugs.

You can turn off both Summaries and contact photos in Mail settings.
yep i agree lots of issues between iPadOS and iOS 18.2 mail that you mention here hope it starts improving in beta 2 or 3

I rolled back to 18.1
I know its beta but that native mail app was awful.

I happy to wait till December.
Given I am retired I can just plod along with 18.2 beta 1 my MacBook has official 15.1 so I get everything there and not stupid categorization. If this were a crucial work issue with mail would do the same but eventually they will fix in later betas

I also encountered issues. I resolved the email problems, but ongoing battery issues in iOS 18 have led me to switch back to the non-beta version, iOS 18.1, for support purposes. This decision was based on suggestions received by @gwhizkids

It's interesting to me that everyone is watching the Mail update.. but wow, if you haven't given it an honest look I **highly recommend** Superhuman. It's insanely well designed and by far the fastest way to cull through emails!

Only strange part of their software.. it's not um, free.. (gasp)

I can quite easily cull through emails by simply deleting them, even 30,000 of them, but thanks.
