Battery drain for me is horrendous.

I turned off apple intelligence reports, under privacy hopefully that solves battery drain.

Yes, phone is indexing and processing things after the update in the background, but this is the fastest drain since 18.2 RC. This setting was every 15 minutes. Seems to often for my liking.

Doing an OTA for now…. Will do an ipsw reload sometime tonight post work.

For the moment - items.

Mail - count seems to be fixed. Badge, updated, manual refresh all match
Notifications - Banners - getting some banners that you have to swipe away. They appear to hang until another banner pops up or you swipe it.

More to come I’m sure…

Bugger.

Did an ipsw install (post OTA) and everything went smooth.
However …

Mail - Badge <> Just Updated <> Manual (25 - 27 - 7). iCloud and Gmail x2
Banners - sticky banners are still a thing
Lockscreen Notifications - most missing but if I pull down from the Home Screen all are there.
— Lockscreen show one from Monday and two from today
— Homescreen pulldown shows several from today

More to come … updating iPad via ipsw now

How did you install the IPSW? I am wondering if Apple Devices is still bricking apple devices upon updates or if it’s been fixed
Most likely not. An iOS update is not going to fix a ****** Windows app. If anything its probably worse that it was. The app has not been updated since 2022 and has 1K one star ratings out of 1,177.

Anyone else not seeing Genmoji show up? I got Image Playground working but can’t activate Genmoji in messages.

It sounded like I was supposed to be able to open the emoji search and type in the emoji to generate but I got nothing.

Today is your lucky day!

Head to Settings>General>Keyboards and scroll all the way down. Toggle “on” Stickers. And you will have Genmoji!

just thought, is this related to ios 18.2 update

Open AI Facing Issues Now

I would be shocked if it were not related. Although the total number of phones capable of using Apple Intelligence is probably less than 80 million worldwide, there are also a significant number of iPads and Apple Silicon Macs that can use it as well. Let’s guesstimate that maybe 100 million devices can use it and of those, maybe 40 million will. That’s a pretty hefty addition to the 300 million or so individuals who were using ChatGPT each week before now. So i could see that being a strain on the service.

What am I missing about Photos? I thought they were going to put it back to iOS 17 appearance?

Wasn't iOS 18 supposed to allow face ID to trust a device for syncing instead of passcode? upgraded that and Sequoia today and it still asks me for a bloody passcode every time i plug into my mac. What an infuriating feature i've hated this for several years now.

Its my own damn computer, can it not learn that?

Again: the phone is very busy after the update. That’s going to impact screen refresh rates.
I’m well aware; been doing this for years.

Stutters each RC and they’ve continued well past post update processing.

Same here, could be image playground downloading stuff in background, it’s on top of the list for me.
yeah, mine got hot and really slow because it was downloading the image playground model which I assume its really big since I have a fast internet connection and still it took some time, or maybe just bad servers/

Over saturated colors are still here on the app switcher and screenshots (16 Pro). Also on my iPad Pro M2 my custom wallpaper gets over saturated after unlocking and going to home screen. Custom Home screen wallpapers are always over saturated, not occurring with default wallpapers.

Still no consistency in mail notifications! Guess I’m going through all the normal attempts to fix. Again !!!

It’s just weird for me. It’s been like this, but don’t remember when it started. I know with the initial 18, no issues. When I get the mail notification, I tap on it and the expected result is go to that email itself. Instead, it almost always goes to the inbox and just locks up for a few seconds. Then it’ll unfreeze and I can view the message.

I’ve removed my accounts, removed mail itself, put everything back on, same thing. My next step is to wipe my 16 PM and try again.
I had the same on RC2, will check if it’s gone today when I receive an email.

Edit: Just received an email and the problem is gone! No freezing anymore.

And what about battery drain due to the Mail application?
Because in RC1 and RC2 the drainage in the background was something terrible for me.

I don’t expect the iOS update itself to fix the app, but the app itself has been updated more recently than 2022. I have seen it appear in windows store updates before. Of course the question is whether or not those updates have done anything of value - we won’t know unless someone tries and reports in, because Apple isn’t going to put a banner on their website saying “Hi, just FYI our software is still horribly broken and WILL brick your iPhone if you attempt to use it”

It’s puzzling why you wanna use an app that Apple themselves seem to have abandoned. OTA seem to work fine for millions of us out here.

I did OTA this time around, and will do it again on Saturday for the newest build. I’m just interested in whether or not the issues have been fixed instead of ignoring them and pretending they don’t exist. How will I know if I don’t ask?

Everyone I know is experiencing this same bug, but I suppose it may not affect all users…

Again, to be very clear: this bug only pertains to audio recordings that were made and sent via the Messages app. The iOS Voice Memos app is perfectly fine.

Here’s a very simple way to check:

• In the Messages app, start recording a voice message as normal and speak for 10 seconds or so.

• Then temporarily stop the recording by tapping the red “stop” button.

• Then tap the little timestamp to the left of the blue “send” button to restart the recording and speak for another 10 seconds or so.

• Stop the recording again by tapping the red “stop” button.

You don’t need to actually send what you’ve recorded… there’s a “play” button on the far left that’ll allow you to preview what you’ve recorded before sending it. You should find that the first 10 seconds of your audio message sounds ok, but that the second 10 seconds of the message sounds noticeably better with much improved quality.

Oh okay, this is the first time I've seen it described in such great detail.

Did you report this exactly like that using the Feedback assistant? If you describe it in such a detailed way, maybe it will get Apple's attention. Along with some sample recordings of course.

I will try to reproduce it myself. I wasn't even aware you could stop and restart a recording 😂

My autocorrect/complete has turned to complete trash on my iPhone with this update. I’ve seen others complain about it, butdifmy have any issues on the betas, now on the public release it strikes.
