Can’t believe the bug causing poor audio quality with voice recordings made/sent via the Messages app STILL hasn’t been fixed. It’s been around since iOS 17.5!

There’s a pretty simple workaround for it, but it’s still annoying to have to do the workaround every time you want to send an audio recording. To their credit, Apple has been making all kinds of great little improvements when it comes to the audio recordings in the Messages app, but apparently the actual sound quality of the recordings isn’t a priority.

For those who aren’t familiar:

• In the Messages app, start recording a voice message as normal and speak for 10 seconds or so.

• Then temporarily stop the recording by tapping the red “stop” button.

• Then tap the little timestamp to the left of the blue “send” button to restart the recording and speak for another 10 seconds or so.

• Stop the recording again by tapping the red “stop” button.

You don’t need to actually send what you’ve recorded… there’s a “play” button on the far left that’ll allow you to preview what you’ve recorded before sending it. You should find that the first 10 seconds of your audio message sounds ok, but that the second 10 seconds of the message sounds noticeably better with much improved quality.

(To be clear: this bug only pertains to audio recordings that were made and sent via the Messages app. The iOS Voice Memos app is perfectly fine.)

There is an evident lag in scrolling on iPhone 16 Pro Max after installing 18.4 RC. Is anyone else noticing this? When you go to settings and scroll through apps it basically crawls. This happens when you open a setting tab then exit it and go to the scroll of apps. Has anyone experienced this? Overall there is also a lag in opening apps and displaying its content. I had the RC installed yesterday. Thoughts?

Update: the lag is sporadic for some reason. Not sure if it is cache loading related.

I have a similar problem. Severe slowdowns when restarting the iPhone 16 Pro phone.

I can’t replicate this on my 15PM running the RC.

Maybe this is what I’m seeing/experiencing on my iPhone 16 Pro - it seems to happen with third party apps more than anything else.

Described it in an earlier post that perhaps its a promotion issue / dropped frames.

Case in point, Comcast has been working on my broadband and I’ve been using the Ookla Speedtest app on my iPhone and it’s always been smooth but since the RC, the needle when running a test is very jerky and not smooth at all. Reddit is another, very jerky but again, it’s intermittent.

Seems like AirDrop is not working properly since the update. Am I alone?

Is anyone seeing the "Prioritized Notifications" on the lock screen? I turned this on in Notifications, I selected the apps I wanted to "prioritize" and I've seen absolutely no indication that it is doing anything differently to 18.3.2. Am I missing a step somewhere? Is there some sort of mode the phone has to be in for this to work? I'd love some guidance, thanks in advance.

15 ProMax
HomeScreen
When I put my screen into wiggle mode, any screen beyond screen 1, I am unable to select the icon to move it along the left hand edge. See attached vid.

A hard reboot of the phone has fixed the issue. For now.

15 ProMax
Notification Center
After the hard reboot mentioned above, NC now has Notifications from Heckfire and Telegram for the last few days. WTF? Heckfire from Mon 14:08 and Telegram from Sat 12:06 - plus all since then. Just those two. All other Notifications (excluding Mail sound) works as expected.

Stop the slowdowns that are everywhere
Once downloaded, Apple Intelligence really doesn't do anything unless you engage with it. It will offer some crappy suggestions in Messages for replies, but the phone already did that without AI. You can turn off the priority notifications and notification summaries if you don't find them useful. You can delete the Image Playground app if you aren't using it. The CPU cycles and RAM usage is going to be when you actually use the AI features. So it most likely is not what's causing whatever slowdowns you are experiencing.

Maybe in Spanish we somehow have some kind of data in English and also in Spanish, and that's why it takes up more space.
I've been using Apple Intelligence in Spanish since the first beta on my 15 Pro, and it takes up 6.21 GB. I downloaded everything in the first beta, and since then, no more downloads have been required.
