Have updated a pile of units now and haven't heard any reports about issues. My new iPhone 16 pro works fine aside from that I do experience that network, both cellular and Wifi, feels a bit laggy/slow at times.
When it comes to cellular it jumps more between 3G/4G and 5G on my regular train-commute to work, and on Wifi its a bit slower than it was on 18.4.1.
On my 14 that I use a lot as a hotspot I don't notice any difference.

Need to test it a bit more, especially the cellular bit. Could be the provider or the fact that I have changed phones recently. But I would think the 16 pro is better than the 13 pro when it comes to cellular performance.

There really was a pile of security issues that was fixed in 18.5 so not surprised if there will be a few revisions to the patches in an upcoming 18.5.1. Haven't been investigating how many that were Qualcomm commsrelated of the official ones yet.

I installed 18.5 on Monday on my iPhone 15 Pro Max. It’s now Sunday, 6 days later, and my phone is still showing the “Update finishing in background” message. I’ve never seen that message display this long. In the battery chart I see “device setup & usage” using around 4% battery every day of the week. I’m also getting worse battery life.

Me too. This exactly. And sometimes my iPhone 15pro runs hot for no reason and battery drops down fast like 15% down in 30 mins for no reason

idk what happened with 18.5, but i have my photos in the cloud, whenever i upload a photo it doesn’t download the full version of the photo and it just upload the low quality cached version 🥲

Using 15pm but this is the same case on my iPad 10 running iPad OS 18.5

Not sure when it happened but RCS works again on my company wifi (stopped working in iOS 18b4 in July).

Nothing changed in terms of network setup at my company, so I assume Apple finally fixed it on their end (changed default ports to something less obscure?).

Same been seeing this for years as well where songs in my library just randomly become “unavailable in your region” and take months before becoming available again.

Some issues other than licensing.

Apple ID Issues: Ensure your Apple ID is set to the correct country/region. If you've recently changed your Apple ID's region, this can cause temporary availability issues for some songs.

VPN Interference: If you're using a VPN, it might be blocking access to certain content. Disconnecting from the VPN or connecting to a server in a region where the song is available might resolve the issue.

Network Connectivity: Check your internet connection and ensure it's stable.

Software Issues: Outdated iOS or macOS versions, or the Apple Music app itself, can sometimes cause compatibility issues. Updating your software and the app may help.

Device Restrictions: Ensure you haven't enabled any device restrictions, such as Screen Time, that might be preventing access to certain songs.

Apple Music Library Synchronization: Try turning off and then on Sync Library in Apple Music settings. (This was my issue. I turned the songs off on music library. They reappeared in my playlist. Then back on.)

The update message appears randomly in the background. One day it appears, the next day it disappears, and the next day it reappears. It seems like something is always forgotten, haha.
Also, when this message appears, in the battery usage statistics, there's an entry that says "Device settings and updates," and it consumes between 4 and 5% of the battery each day. And I don't notice any change in the phone's performance. I don't know what the phone is doing.

My iPhone 15pro is doing the same thing. I do notice battery draining more quickly as well

The updating message finally disappeared after 6 days. I did restart my 15 PM on Sunday. As far as I can tell that message appears as long as the “device settings and updates” process ran in the last 24 hours. Mine last ran overnight into Monday. It didn’t run last night.

anyone else just completely stop receiving verification codes and automated texts since 18.5? I have verizon and until last night when i desperately reset network settings, I was not receiving any "automated" texts. such as login 2FA, delivery updates, appointment reminders, etc. once i reset network settings, i received 26 verification/automated sms texts immediately.

Maybe related to Verizon's outage yesterday.

Buggy for me. Screen locks up on simple things like just going onto settings general storage or other areas like battery for example. Never had this issue before. 16 PM

Also pressing the three dots( upper right side corner ) doesn’t work when showing a movie memory anymore. Used to work before. I used it often to share a movie memory prior. Now can’t.

It’s not so bad
I'm cautious, see below.
I don't have any bugs that I'm aware of.
As long as you don't recognize or stumble upon a bug, everything is fine. 👍
But once you encounter a show stopping bug, there is absolutely no way to get back to the status quo, I'm now safely using - thanks to Apples signing policies...o_O

When i got my latest iPhone, i wanted to setup the new phone with Quickstart - thereby making the new phone the current phone. But Quickstart required me to update the new phone to iOS 17, which was way to early at that time and bricked my new device and i had to wait until 17.0.2, when finally a safe Quickstart without bricking the new device was possible. Then i struggled nearly to the end of iOS 17 to get the normal reliable function from my daily driver, i was used to under iOS 16. You can be sure, i never ever again want this update race to get my fully functional phone back - then I'll better skip an update, than to have a non functional device for daily driver. I need my phone to earn money, not testing half baked software for completeness...

Software quality @Apple has gone down the drain lately - unfortunately...

Sounds like some pretty bad flaws that happened there. Can understand that that was a mess but it’s far away from being the experience for everyone.

Sorry you had to bad experience, but don’t read anything on this forum as a widespread crisis about the OS. There are always going to be a few edge cases, but you would see major news coverage if Apple software was an unstable mess. This is just spreading FUD and causes people to stay on older systems that DO have unpatched bugs and security exploits.

I don't see how anyone can NOT see the horrible notification stack animations and general glitchiness with them. Like if you try to reply to a text from the Lock Screen, the bubble shifts down and you can't see the bottom anymore.

Still getting very erratic internet connectivity on Wi-fi and 5G. Started early in 18.5 beta cycle and persisting in final release version. First major problem I have ever had. Multiple reports on Apple Feedback and still not fixed.
