When creating a reminder in the Reminders app via Siri on CarPlay, you now get a different dialog showing the reminder created. I think this has more detail than in iOS 17. But Siri is still Siri (and messed up "forum" to "for him"). 😂

This is going to be great! I’ve had too many requests butchered by Siri (ignoring date/time or location, or even just half of the request). Visually confirming the reminder was processed correctly will be helpful!

I was wondering if that might have been the case. Another of Apple’s many not really announced or promoted features. Thanks for clearing that up.

Also works on pets too 🐕 IMG_7869.jpeg

Animal and plant identification has been available since ios sixteen maybe… It may not have had the fancy animated lines going around the subjects, but I’m not seeing anything new there.

Yeah, identifying and including pets in the “People and Pets” album was a new feature in iOS 17.
But it‘s the “fancy animated lines” we have been talking about. But since its not an iOS 18 thing, I plan to move on.

Pretty positive plant and dog breed identification was in sixteen..:I mean, we’re still on it may have even been fifteen. The only reason I say that is that the whole child pornography discussion came well after that feature was announced as I used it as an argument that Apple already had a local “on phone” database of image recognition capabilities.

But I’m traveling and too lazy to look up the actual release…probably iOS fifteen.

Ohhh gotcha. Yeah that’s all part of the visual lookup/stickers functionality. I wouldn’t be surprised if they added more subjects it can recognize in iOS 18, but the core functionality is not new. 🙂

I don’t often check battery usage, so maybe this isn’t new. Noticed an “insight” telling me I’ve been using my phone more after upgrading the software which may affect battery life.

Dammit. Not sure if it was on Beta 4, but they changed the way videos are played in the Photo App. It was way smoother and precise in the previous way. That sliding control is terrible!!!!

Since downloading the public beta for iPhone 15 Pro and Apple watch, any messages I delete from my watch now delete from my phone as well. Is this a new feature or a bug? I keep googling and searching forums but can't find anything.

Would you mind editing your post. Kind of hard to follow.

Edit: now I see what happened. Looks like you somehow cut the middle of a sentence and pasted it into another.

I opened the app for the soundbar hooked up to my TV, and I saw this dialog that I’ve never seen before.

They’ve got much more granular with Bluetooth and Network sharing permissions. The idea is they want to make users recognize that some hardware makers are being overly aggressive (or lazy in scoping) with their implementations.

Craig actually talked about it for a bit during the Daring Fireball post-WWDC keynote interview.

Hoping this eventually pushes Microsoft to allow me to use the Teams app without forcing me to give it Network Access.
