do I need to update my Mac OS to the latest to enjoy Passwords app on the phone? or it will work with Monterey keychain?
As others say I don't think so however you might want it for iPhone Mirroring. It's been a game changer for me being able to grab 2FA codes from the phone for logins on my Mac without opening the phone.do I need to update my Mac OS to the latest to enjoy Passwords app on the phone? or it will work with Monterey keychain?
Well, this was actually the only reason why I went through all the archive Mac backup thing and installed Beta, for the last moment. Not looking forward to the Photos app. Will probably hold off for a few months, if not indefinitely, as everything I’ve seen and read makes me feel like it’ll be a huge regression. I’m so sick of change for change’s sake.
That sounds promising. My 11PM is not running that great on 17.6.1. There's certain functions that just aren't working, i.e. 'dial assist' etc etc. let's hope IOS18 irons out these issues.Currently using 18 RC and so far this is better than 17.6.1, both performance and battery, for me on iphone 11
In the early betas with the carousels below the main photo gallery it WAS much worse and I think that is where a lot of the hate comes from, but the change to ditch the carousels for more vertical sections made the whole thing so much more usable and I now really like the customizable sections at the bottom and that I can get to everything just by scrolling rather than having to dig through multiple tabs and menus.I just needed to see and try for myself. And honestly - I thought it'd be much worse.
Good relevant post🤣Keeping my iPhone 13 pro on ios 15, best decision ever. Just changed the battery yesterday, feels as fast as i got it the first day.

With tabs I was able to maintain the context by switching between tabs. No longer. This was replaced by crazy scrolling decisionMost things are not "one tap away" at all - they require to move to a different section and scroll to find the folders you're looking for, which I find to be a painful experience (for example the Utilities section). With the new Photos app I can have the Utilities section accessible right below my photos library, saving multiple taps and scrolls to get to it.
Also, the "For You" tab is mostly a waste of space for me - I'm glad I can choose the one section I do find useful and put it in the main feed. Same with Search - it doesn't need its own tab, and now I can get everything I would use within it in the same section of the app.
The new app is an overall better experience, allowing people to just have what they want, rather than all these sections and tabs they barely use.
Same here. Photos app is a complete disappointment, looks like a one week intern task in SwiftUI. Maybe it is, who knowsI’m looking forward to almost everything. Except I’m really, really not looking forward to the new Photos UI
I’ve heard reviews that it’s really bad and Apple’s current UI team seems to be made up of people who were too incompetent to work at Microsoft so I have no faith they’ll do a good job
Oh, never thought about it that way! This is very good point. Had those moments too, when I need to grab my phone just for 2FA.iPhone Mirroring. It's been a game changer for me being able to grab 2FA codes from the phone for logins on my Mac without opening the phone.

I meant when needing to use an app like Google or MS Authenticator2FA comes through on messages on Mac too.
For me that would just be one more thing to turn off in Settings. I don't want my phone audibly nagging at me and irritating everyone around me because I missed a call (and I would have seen it on my watch in the first place). No mention of Apple addressing the iPhone's most absurd and pathetic omission: audible notifications of missed calls.
So? Apple pettily added this exact feature for texts, but neglected to do so for calls. Is that bothering you and everyone around you?For me that would just be one more thing to turn off in Settings.
