Well, in the past, beta 1 has been usable but then beta 2 and 3 start taking a nose dive with bugs galore and apps crashing, then beta 4 starts getting better and each beta after that gets a bit more stable until go-live. I learned to wait until beta 5 or so to jump in.
agreed, in the past beta 2 and beta 3 are the ones to fasten the seatbelt.

anything special you did to get it working? Mine won’t connect wirelessly but haven’t tried cable
No it just connects normally when I get in the car. Maybe it’s temperamental with different vehicle manufacturers.

Has anyone else’s Limited Edition Apple Watch activity awards disappeared? There’s no section to view them on my Fitness app. They always seem to be a bit flaky when restoring from an iCloud backup on a new device, so not entirely surprised.

Sorry if this in this thread somewhere, how the heck do you "select" multiple photos in the new photo app? Such as for sending more than one photo or ticking off a few for deletion, etc.? Maybe it's just broken or not developed yet?

Ahh, the days of beta testing for Apple. I used to sign up for the first release of everything too, but not anymore. Still, I enjoy sitting back sipping on coffee while reading all of the comments. Frankly, I don’t have much faith in how this is going to pan out in the first year or two. There is simply too much hype with companies rushing to be the first to offer AI. I believe this is gonna end up just like electric vehicles. Apple has had many years to improve Siri and never have. What makes you think they’re just gonna come out with AI and fix all that with a bolt-on feature set. 🤷‍♂️
I know the narrative is that Apple woke up late last year and said “Gosh, this AI thing is real. We’d better do something about it!”

Generative AI didn’t appear out of nowhere: every company in the industry was aware of it and actively doing research and development on it. I’m sure Apple had much of the stuff it demoed on Monday in it’s pipeline as a result of that research.

The difference maker was ChatGPT and the speed with which it came to market with a viable product that captured consumer imaginations, especially image creation with Dall-E.

Then, I’m sure, the product roadmap that Apple had laid out for, say, the next 3-5 years got compressed to 1-2 years. And we’re just now seeing the fruits of that.

What’s my evidence for this? App intents. Apple has been making app intents more robust and available since shortly after Shortcuts debuted. You could see where the arc was heading. Hiring John Giannandrea away from Google and promoting him almost immediately to being a direct report to Tim Cook was another sign that Apple was aware of the need to innovate in this area.

Apple’s chief sin was thinking it had more time to get where it wanted to go than it did. That and probably taking too long to cancel the vehicle program. Having to strike the deal with OpenAI (and possibly Google) is the price they’ll have to pay for taking that time.

Just got this on restarting my iPad 🙈, it’s a brand new 13” M4 😂😂

Very buggy
The lock-application by face id is not working at any app. I hide the face id sensors so it cant recognize me and its say that the recognition failed but still the app open and i can use it.

If I try to move app in home-screen to another page it duplicates the app and one of them cant move and always shaking in edit mode even its not. (after reboot it fixes)

The spotlight search not appear when I slide down (works only in the widgets page and the keyboard is behind the apps)

I had this problem so I restored from a backup and it all works fine now.

Anyone else’s photo app run heavily in the background? Never noticed it in iOS 17.

8 mins screen time
3hrs 50 mins background.

This is rather normal, happens for every major iOS release. Especially this year since the photo app got reworked. Photos are being re-analyzed and re-indexed in the background. Should calm down after a few days. Although usually I believe this kind of stuff is supposed to happen when your phone is idle and charging, but I might be wrong.

Makes sense. Thanks.

or could just keep beta 1 until beta 4 releases lol
I believe all of the initial beta builds would be signed thru the entire process, so as long as you keep beta 1's .ipsw file, you should be able to go back to it. But keep in mind a lot of things just aren't included in b1, so some things you might enjoy in b3 won't even be there if you revert back.
