Decided to move up to PB2 for some reason, out of nowhere, photos/camera became very unstable and would freeze up.
So far on PB2 everything seems good after I did another hard reboot.
-battery is better
-no problem with RCS
-camera and photos are fine
-T mobile calls and data is fine

iPhone 15 plus

Yeah PB 2 and DB 4 should both be very stable. It should be optimization from here on out for Apple. Most of the bugs seems to have been mostly resolved. There are a few here and there, but mostly its gotten good.

I haven't read through all 20 pages but I'm having issues where Apple CarPlay no longer allows me to select recent options or my Home/Work icons, it's like the button press doesn't register. Also, within the Apple Watch Workout app I can no longer toggle the option for detect workout equipment so it is stuck on OFF and I can't connect to my Peloton.

Good to know. I’m using it on my 13 Mini now. Will install on my 15 PM today too.

PB 2 I’m experiencing issues with the brightness at the minimum in a dark room.
It’s not as dark as before (it’s pretty bright), and the blacks are raised, kind of a HDR look in dark areas, lacking contrast.
iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Anyone else?

If you mean Google Maps, it's a known issue.
My issue with CarPlay is with Waze. I just can't close the notifications or submit one. I can put directions in and even the screen adjusts to my touch but the Yield icon on the lower right side will not do anything.

I have exactly the same problem with Waze.

Huge problems with the sound, both in headphones and on the phone, the music player stops sounding when the screen is turned off, if you turn it on from the headphones, the sound disappears when you turn on the screen. Screen turn off Click sounds only if you turn on music and then it disappears. And microphone orange dot is always ON!
Upd: You need to set up Vocal Shortcuts and delete it after.
Thank you! I was just about to post in the thread about this! It’s driving me crazy, because it’s habit to lock my phone while in CarPlay, and every time I lock my phone, the music pauses! Also, noticed the mic indicator from AccessibilityUIServer, and how it stays on constantly, which is honestly kind of scary. Did you file feedback? I filed earlier this week, but I hadn’t made the connection to AccessibilityUIServer before today…

EDIT: I followed that link to the developer forums. When I went to vocal shortcuts in settings, it wasn’t even set up, yet setting it up and then turning it off solved the issue.

Tomorrow, I’ll be able to test if it’s still causing issues with CarPlay pausing…

Thx yea, I installed about two hours ago, so far no issues, except for the expected hot temperature and battery drain while it processes the update. Hoping by tomorrow it calms down a bit. :)
It should. I haven't had heating issues with DB 4. Of course there is the always warmer temp when charging with MagSafe, but nothing crazy.

This beta enabled 5G Stand Alone for Vodafone UK making them the first MNO in the UK with SA on an iPhone.

Not seen this option on my test iPhone 12 with my Vodafone sim in it

Day 2 of installing the latest dev beta 4 on my daily driver 15 PM. Only have encountered one bug, which is that in only one of my downloaded offline albums in Apple Music, the tracks are duplicated and when playing any of them it shows like both tracks are playing. See screenshot.

Other than that, smooth sailing so far.

Currently installing beta 4 on a secondary phone - 13 Mini for my first experience of the new OS. Actually took the time for the first time ever of making an archived backup so that I can revert to an iOS 17.6 backup easily. Feels really nice to have a safety net actually!

I'm really looking forward to the new Calendars and Messages updates. I'll report back from the perspective of a fresh beta user - I'm quite excited 😛

Well after about an hour of usage my initial thoughts are:
- My iPhone 13 Mini seems to run just as fast as ever - very pleased with this aspect!
- The phone is doing its usual 'warm' work after a big update - was the same with iOS 17.0.
- The Calendars app is much better than before but I think the third party options still have the edge visually.
- The new Photos app's initial UI with the split in the middle of the page is quirky. I can live with it though - it works as well as ever after a quick scroll.
- The new Messages features look good - tapback with all the emojis will be very useful. I have no need for RCS but it's nice to have just in case.
- Safari and Mail look mostly the same to me. I'm in the EU so won't be getting the AI features - I'm actually happy enough about this as I like iOS as clean as possible.
- Home screen customisation is nice to have although I don't think I'll use it much...not at the beginning anyway.
- My apps all seem to work fine from a small amount of testing. I managed to get the Notes app to hang but it's possibly still syncing with iCloud (it's a beta after all! :))
- Overall the OS 'looks' from a high level 95% the same as iOS 17 which is a good thing from my perspective. I like iOS and am happy that the updates don't change it too much.
- This feels like a good update, I'll keep running the betas on my 13 Mini. Maybe after a few more beta releases I'll put it on my primary 15 Pro Max but I actually don't see any major rush as, for my use cases, iOS 17 and iOS 18 are 95% the same...the new OS adds little real value for me to be quite honest. The good aspect of this is that it also doesn't ruin anything. It's another good one - good job Apple!

Nice summary.

For me, the only home-screen customisation I've done is where the last row of icons on a page only had two apps, I've centred then.

I removed the camera app from the lock screen and replaced it with an app I use frequently.

I don't have a homepod or any other type of "home hub" but I now have all my philips hue scenes and individual lights on one of the new scrollable control centre screens.

I'm a bit of a lone voice on here, but I like the Photos app.

My iPhone 11 is running well.

I have a funny feeling I'll end up liking the Photos app you know. I don't actually dislike it right now, just need to get used to the new appearance on launch as it's only been an hour for me.

Good tip on the Lock Screen shortcuts - I'd forgotten about those. I will likely remove the camera from there too, just need to figure out what to replace it with.

Nice to hear that the iPhone 11 is running well on the new OS. Good on Apple for looking after older phones. I loved my 11 and took some amazing photos on it. It was one of my favourite phones - my mother in law is still using it.

Do I miss something or Control Center Widgets are randomly assigned in Landscape mode (apps based on main screen in Vertical) or there is some way to arrange them?

I.e YouTube or MAX
Total mess…

It's a great phone. When I think my phone is getting close to end-of-life for me, I remove the case.

That decision was made for me anyway, as both my €3 made-in-China cases were falling apart :). My white iPhone 11 looks great and I've developed a new-found appreciation for it. I still might get the 16 later this year, but let's see.

There's a large thread on here about the new Photos app. One issue is that people seem to miss the "customisation" options. My set-up is that I only have the one screen at the top, and under that, only "Albums". I don't use anything else.

I still have a Logitech Harmony remote. It's abandoned tech, and the iOS app hasn't been updated in years, so my upgrade to iOS 18 has stopped the old-style widget from working. That's the app I have on my lock-screen.

So they did fix the massive dimming issue, but now I am having issues in my office of having my 14 PM get dimmer than normal anytime I unlock it. I had this issue back on early iOS 17 releases. I kept having to turn it up manually. Its usable but surely not as bright as it should be.

That’s another good tip! I must take a closer look at Photos custom options. Thanks for the heads up 👏🏻

I have 80% charge limit set, and my phone gets really warm and charging gets really slow once it starts getting to 70%. It’s mostly cool and quick charging below that. I wonder if there’s a bug with the charge limit. It used to never be like this on iOS 17.

Interestingly, I’ve seen people sharing screenshots where the have some app icons not using a dark mode version, when I have the same app that is using dark mode and Vice Versa.

Like Telegram, mine is dark mode and my WhatsApp isn’t, but seen people’s screenshots whether they have it the other way round.

A weird inconsistency!
